cutestory Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 Tyll, are we going to see a review of the DSHA-1 from you at some point?
Tyll Hertsens Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 Don't know exactly, lots of things on my plate at the moment. Really need more writers but waiting for budget approvals.
Tari Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 Some of the hobbyists out there would definitely do it for free. Same person I suggested to you for the Paradox also has every Grado ever and quite a few amps to compare the DSHA to.
dsavitsk Posted November 9, 2012 Author Report Posted November 9, 2012 (edited) If someone is interested in taking the DSHA-1 for a spin for the purposes of writing a short review somewhere, I am happy to oblige. There are lots of places to do a writeup. Also, there is a new blog post for the first half of the Black Diamond headphone amp -- a project I am working on at http://diy.ecpaudio.com Edited November 9, 2012 by dsavitsk
mrarroyo Posted November 9, 2012 Report Posted November 9, 2012 ^ Darn nice of you, but I would be afraid of the loan. It is a very expensive amp and I would worry to death something might happen to it.
skullguise Posted November 9, 2012 Report Posted November 9, 2012 (edited) The Black Diamond looks pretty interesting Doug, looking forward to more results! Edited November 9, 2012 by skullguise
nopants Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 at first I thought this was the underside of a chassis and I pooped myself
postjack Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 Kind sir I offer you five hundred american dollars. Wait what the hell is that?
Dusty Chalk Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 Wait what the hell is that? It's an alien lifeform.
morphsci Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 It's an alien lifeform. Better call Torchwood ...
guzziguy Posted February 1, 2014 Report Posted February 1, 2014 (edited) The new Black Diamond prototype looks great, Doug. Still, you know how much I like being able to see into my DSHA-1 prototype. You do such gorgeous design and layout. Other people here also seem to like looking in. I can't help but wonder if you could do a product in wood and metal, but with a transparent top (and maybe bottom too) so that the innards would be on display? Edit: Also, I can't wait to listen to this iteration of the Black Diamond. I really liked the sound of the first prototype. Edited February 1, 2014 by guzziguy 1
dsavitsk Posted February 1, 2014 Author Report Posted February 1, 2014 The acrylic cases are, unfortunately, just not strong enough. I wish they were as it would give me an excuse to buy a laser cutter, but I just don't see it as a workable option. I looked into doing glass panels as I know the preference for see-through things, but it was going to be cost prohibitive to get done. If anyone else knows something about getting glass parts made, I am all ears.
guzziguy Posted February 1, 2014 Report Posted February 1, 2014 I'm thinking more in just having the top be acrylic. I would think that a reasonably thick (whatever that is) of plexiglass would be strong enough. Of course, I don't really know what criteria you use to determine necessary strength.
