Duggeh Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 Kale chips indeed. They will be activated soon. I loved the chicharrones. Like the magnificent delicious offspring of quavers and pork scratchings. With chilli!
Voltron Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 The chicharrones were a sure thing, and I figured they would go so fast that you would need another bag. The kale chips are surprisingly tasty, although Dominic is surely disappointed it is only kale.
luvdunhill Posted January 6, 2012 Report Posted January 6, 2012 And lo and behold a bottle from Colin! Vintage Rye 21! Very exciting! More in the drink thread!
VPI Posted January 6, 2012 Author Report Posted January 6, 2012 Just returned from a gift exchange lunch with Dinny. I feel that I was completely spoiled by my exchange partner with a great meal at Smith & Wollensky's and the coolest bottle of Whisky evar. I like my booze with a great story. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=40.750014,-73.975040
Voltron Posted January 6, 2012 Report Posted January 6, 2012 Very nice! But what is the story? And I know you gave Dinny a nice bottle, too, so he can be a little spoilt as well.
VPI Posted January 6, 2012 Author Report Posted January 6, 2012 "Mackinlay's Rare Old Highland Malt is a meticulous re-creation of the original malt whisky shipped to Antarctica in 1907 by the explorer Ernest Shackleton to fortify his 'Nimrod' expedition. The story of how several wooden crates of this precious whisky were abandoned to the Antarctic winter in early 1909, then rediscovered over a century later, is one that celebrates the enduring spirit of both man and malt. You can read all about the journey and re-discovery on this site, and we also reveal how this unique whisky was carefully re-created for you to savour and enjoy." The rest of the story. http://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/shackletons-whisky-mackinlays-rare-old-highland-malt/
mikeymad Posted January 6, 2012 Report Posted January 6, 2012 enjoy your Shackleton's.. I want to try mine soon
Voltron Posted January 6, 2012 Report Posted January 6, 2012 Cool (pun intended). I did not recall Macinlays was the Shackelton whisky. Enjoy it Jeff! Also, you need a bottle of the Black Tot Last Consignment to go along with it: http://www.klwines.com/detail.asp?sku=1060713&cid=TPV-Googlebase
The Monkey Posted January 6, 2012 Report Posted January 6, 2012 And I know you gave Dinny a nice bottle, too, so he can be a little spoilt as well. Indeed! Jeff got me the Black Maple Hill 16 y.o., which I am itching to sample asafp. It was literally next on my list to try, but I never pulled the trigger. Thanks Jeff! January Christmas presents FTW!
swt61 Posted January 6, 2012 Report Posted January 6, 2012 You have to put an icepack on your balls to get the full experience.
