Aimless1 Posted September 3, 2017 Report Posted September 3, 2017 Last night, success. Tonight, fail. Ribs over cooked and twice baked potatoes undercooked. 1
Voltron Posted September 3, 2017 Report Posted September 3, 2017 At least you had Hidden Valley Ranch... 1

EdipisReks1 Posted September 4, 2017 Report Posted September 4, 2017 Maybe go with thrice baked potatoes, next time. 2
guzziguy Posted September 4, 2017 Report Posted September 4, 2017 and twice- over thrice- cooked ribs. 2

ironbut Posted September 8, 2017 Report Posted September 8, 2017 Just bought my first gas grill after years of Webber kettles. 1
Absorbine_Sr Posted September 16, 2017 Report Posted September 16, 2017 Babybacks on the Weber kettle with the Slow 'n' Sear and apple wood at 225 (or so) for 4 hours. Maybe pics later. 4
n_maher Posted September 16, 2017 Report Posted September 16, 2017 Nice! I prepped a brisket for the smoker tomorrow. Still no magic pink paper (lack of planning -10pts) but still should be "decent". 7
n_maher Posted September 17, 2017 Report Posted September 17, 2017 Working on sides while the brisket rests. 8
n_maher Posted September 18, 2017 Report Posted September 18, 2017 Thanks guys, it was very good, better than the first one for sure. I let it get to a solid 205 internal before pulling it. Didn't have quite enough rest time but that didn't seem to impact things negatively either. I guess that I am going to have to get up earlier next time, which is unfortunately but on some level I'm happy to suffer for the craft. 5
EdipisReks1 Posted September 18, 2017 Report Posted September 18, 2017 Maybe I should have a cheat day and fire up the Weber, while the weather is still nice. 1

Voltron Posted September 18, 2017 Report Posted September 18, 2017 I'm not grilling anything at the moment, but I did clean my Genesis inside and out. When the grease and grime below grilling surface started catching on fire, I figured it was time. The Genesis makes it very easy to take out all the parts and scrape/wash them down that I really should not wait so long. 4
n_maher Posted September 19, 2017 Report Posted September 19, 2017 Thanks for the reminder, Al, I really need to clean mine. My dads Webber had a grease fire when we used it a couple of weeks ago and we had to use a fire extinguisher on it.
Aimless1 Posted September 22, 2017 Report Posted September 22, 2017 Delivered today. Now I have a pellet popper at home. First cook? Chicken Cordon Bleu. 8
n_maher Posted October 7, 2017 Report Posted October 7, 2017 Fired up the smoker today while working on the deck. The ribs came out great (there were 4 sets like this is total) and the deck isn't looking too shabby. Still have the other half of the railing to do but now that we've got it figure out it should go pretty quickly. 10 1
n_maher Posted November 5, 2017 Report Posted November 5, 2017 Getting in some late season smoking tomorrow. 5
Voltron Posted November 5, 2017 Report Posted November 5, 2017 New England brisket fairy in effect! 3
