shellylh Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 Yep, that is right, toilets. We need a new one. I know some people have done some remodels lately and Steve seems to be the bathroom remodel king queen. So I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or models/brands to avoid.
CD44hi Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 do a search, this topic has been flushed before...
shellylh Posted November 20, 2011 Author Report Posted November 20, 2011 Any downside to getting a dual flush (problems down the line), besides price?
shellylh Posted November 20, 2011 Author Report Posted November 20, 2011 Ok, found the other thread: Basically Toto is good except the monkey doesn't like them. Also American Standard Cadet 3 seems to be liked. No mention of dual flush vs regular flush. Oh, and I hope Jacob eventually got his toilet fixed.
skullguise Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 ^^^ I can see this degenerating to toilet humor about the band.....
swt61 Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 I happen to like Kohler. But most of the higher end toilets are good. If I were buying a new toilet it'd be one with the tank built in, and smooth sides for easy cleaning, and there is now a toilet seat that can be removed in seconds by twisting two knobs. Use the shower to clean the seat, and a shitty job just got a lot easier.
Salt Peanuts Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 ^ That's a nice looking toilet.
Aimless1 Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 x2 on the Kohler. Like the appearance of the one you posted Steve.
luvdunhill Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 Steve definitely knows his shit(ers)
skullguise Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 (edited) That IS nice.....and a built-in tank is indeed good; the pieces connecting the tank to the base are often the first thing to wear (other than the flushing mechanism). It's what led me to replace two toilets, slow leaks of rusty water....yech....... I did like the price and flushing capability of the American Standard, though......both the ones I have work fine for our needs. Edited November 21, 2011 by skullguise
bhjazz Posted November 29, 2011 Report Posted November 29, 2011 It's too bad this is one product you can't demo at Home Depot.
morphsci Posted November 29, 2011 Report Posted November 29, 2011 It's too bad this is one product you can't demo at Home Depot. No wonder they got pissed at me.
swt61 Posted November 29, 2011 Report Posted November 29, 2011 No wonder they got pissed at me. Did they tell you to pack your shit and leave?
dsavitsk Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 It's too bad this is one product you can't demo at Home Depot. I saw a little kid use a floor model toilet at Sears once.
jvlgato Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 Funny. Our upstairs toilet is currently in the kids' bedroom while the bathroom is being redone. We told the kids VERY clearly NOT to use it, it doesn't work right now! They said, 'I know, I know!' Yeah, right. I could easily see my son trying it out right about now.
swt61 Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 I'd like to have a wall urinal about 6' from my bed. A working one.
jvlgato Posted November 30, 2011 Report Posted November 30, 2011 Steve, you can reach 6' without having to get out of bed? Damn, your custom title is accurate, you really are TICE!
