limp
Could be. The skeptic in me only sees this as a next step to show how inferior all the commercial amps are an then voila, I have this clearly superior alternative at a low, low price... You're not sceptic, you're a cynic Edited December 11, 2011 by limp
Torpedo
Nope, cynic will be AVguy when starts producing a commercial amp and selling it for a profit
Tyll Hertsens
Well if he does I'll call him on it because he's clearly stated that he wasn't going to do that.
spritzer
I do hope he stays out of that sector but the allure of selling black boxes for oodles of money with not a whole lot invested can be hard to resist.
limp
Been mighty quiet here lately. I just finished drilling the holes in the faceplate, so now the amplifier is complete. Ain't she a beauty

crappyjones123
i actually thought it was him under a different name on diya. but i guess the design has been adopted for sale by others who are selling built amps. didn't have all the facts before posting. nice casework though. very clean. CherryBomb
My O2 came in a few days ago. At first I was concerned about build-quality since the attenuator came off the first time I touched it. It went back on with a little effort and an allen wrench. I got around to listening to it yesterday and was surprised - it may be one of those "good for the money" deals. I haven't really listened enough to comment on the merits of the amp design or sound quality, but my initial impression was positive. I was feeling good about it until about an hour ago when the thing crapped out on me. The right channel produced nothing but static. I have confirmed that it is definitely the amp. I guess we'll get to see what customer service is like. Edited December 29, 2011 by CherryBomb
Cankin
Where did you buy yours??
CherryBomb
Epiphany Acoustics: http://epiphany-acoustics.co.uk/our-products/ehp-o2-portable-audio-headphone-amplifier/ I emailed them 24 hours ago and haven't heard back yet. We'll see how long it takes.
Cankin
I was going to order one from them but changed my mind and now waiting for the desktop version, probably from other builders. Hope they will resolve the problem for your asap

grawk
have you tried putting it in a hydraulic press? It may have excess particles.
spritzer
I'd recommend repetitive blows with a hammer. can't get much worse really...
wink
About half a kilo of C4 strapped to the O2 sounds about right. That will put the bangs per buck back into the purchase........
Fitz
I suggest nuking it from orbit. Only way to be sure.
CherryBomb
Charging it didn't work. I'm going to try nuking it next.
Filburt
Are the opamps all secured in their respective sockets? Also, maybe check for bad solder joints.
CherryBomb
All of the opamps look fine. For now I'm mostly treating this as an exercise in seeing if Epiphany Accoustics will stand behind their products. If I don't hear from them, then I'll crack the case open and start diagnosing the problem.
n_maher
I looked at their website and see no mention of a warranty. Did I miss something or are you simply SOL with no warranty for them to stand behind?
morphsci
The warranty info is under the "Your Order" section.
Grahame
Also , being the UK , as a consumer you get the protection of "oppressive big socialist government regulation" In particular, The Sale Of Goods act. The key points being goods must be * Of satisfactory quality * Fit for purpose You also get additional rights for mail order / e-commerce ("distance selling") In plain English
