Wmcmanus Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 But since it's my birthday, maybe someone can help without whipping me for being so stupid and lazy... "Hey Wayne. Can you recommend a set of in-ear monitor for my motorcycle helmet communication system in the $200 ballpark. I’m not listening to music on them; purely for Atom use for driver <-> passenger communication, and the occasional phone call. I’m looking for something that I can comfortably wear inside a helmet for hours at a time. Thanks. Nick. PS. How are you, I haven’t heard from you in a while." Seems to me that he's looking for custom IEMs on the lowest end of the food chain. Something that will give a comfortable fit such that they won't rip his ears off when he removes his helmet. One word answers are acceptable, of even two word answers ending with "off"...

grawk Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 I liked the westone UM2 under a helmet back when I rode. I'd bet the UM1 would work well, too. The flat profile works well.
Wmcmanus Posted September 28, 2011 Author Report Posted September 28, 2011 Wow! Great response, TMoney. Thanks for the UM1 recommendation as well, Dan. I'll pass along the link to Tyll's usual genius insights, and all will be well once again with my friend who only emails me when he has audio questions... I'm sure you all know people like that. HeadphoneAddict Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 The ER-6i and Jays q-JAY are tiny and short and disappear pretty deeply inside the ears, so you can put a helmet on and off pretty easily. I'd worry about many others that project more into the outer ear area.
The Monkey Posted September 29, 2011 Report Posted September 29, 2011 What about the Klipsch x10 (or whatever they're called now)? They are really comfortable and low profile.
