When the SR-009 first came out a guy was claiming the Cirolian was an excellent match... that he just happened to sell said amp was naturally not a factor. StrawHat Posted March 16, 2013 Report Share Posted March 16, 2013 I tested all the transistors before stuffing the boards but I did it with one of those DMM hfe testers I think my testing is not very reliable. I have already ordered a new set of boards from Lil'Knight so I will definitely continue this project but before continuing I need to buy a good DMM and one of those transistor testers. I was thinking of buying this one: http://www.peakelec.co.uk/acatalog/dca75-dca-pro.html Anybody has any experience with it? Seems a little better than the DY294. It can test MOSFETs, JFETs and some simple curve tracing, which the DY294 can't do. However, what's with the minigrabber thing, especially because they are simply soldered onto the board with no strain relief at all... Good to hear that. I did see the 500v rating but not totally sure if it's trustworthy enough... The JAE looks great for the money. For the T2 or KGSSHV level, best ones you can score is the ITT Cannon, even more bulky and heavy duty than the Amphenol. I am using some Japanese made connectors for the T2. They are just as good as the Amphenol but a bit cheaper. Adding a nice mil spec sleeve will make some bad-ass umbilical cables. I'm starting to think that good old power transistors are a thing of the past. Seems that anything I look for is end of life now. My tube projects are looking much more likely now because of this.
