Torpedo Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 Sorry Ken, I hope it's treatable and things go well. Quote
swt61 Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 Fingers crossed that kitty makes full recovery! Quote
Absorbine_Sr Posted October 21, 2012 Author Report Posted October 21, 2012 Good thoughts for your cat Ken. We'll miss you in Texas. Quote
raffy Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 Sorry Ken, I hope it's treatable and things go well. ^This Ken. Hope kitty makes a full recovery! Needless to say, I am out for this meet too Quote
swt61 Posted October 21, 2012 Report Posted October 21, 2012 With all the drop-outs, it might be easier to confirm who will be there instead of who won't. That will give us a better idea about accommodations for those wanting a bedroom. swt61 - Will be in attendance. 1 Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted October 22, 2012 Report Posted October 22, 2012 Good thoughts Ken's kitty's way. Quote
Absorbine_Sr Posted October 22, 2012 Author Report Posted October 22, 2012 Mike and Debbie will be in attendance. 1 Quote
Absorbine_Sr Posted October 25, 2012 Author Report Posted October 25, 2012 So I'm beginning to think, due to lack of response, that this is a dead event? Unless I hear different in this thread Debbie and I will be looking for alternative lodging as we'd still like to attend the race rather than sell our tickets. Quote
shellylh Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 Unfortunately, I just realized tonight that my mom will be visiting me during that time so I am out for sure too. We really need to have a Texas meet in the spring. I could organize more in Houston but downtown Austin might be more fun. Quote
guzziguy Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 It's bad news for my Little Boy. He's been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Average life expectancy with that diagnosis is 4 months. He's getting great care and is comfortable. I hope to bring him home on Friday. Quote
Voltron Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 Sorry to hear that Ken. I'm sure your kitteh has had a great life with you, and it is always hard to let go. I guess I have to agree that the momentum seems to be lost on this event, and I am sad to lose Shelly as well. Not sure if Marc is focused on the thread, but I will PM him and maybe give him a call. swt61 Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 Ken's cat and the meet both dying? Of coarse the meet can always be rescheduled. So sorry to hear about your buddy Ken! I'm always devastated at the loss of a pet, as they become so much more to me. Quote
morphsci Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 Sorry to hear about your cat Ken. Quote
Absorbine_Sr Posted October 25, 2012 Author Report Posted October 25, 2012 Sad news on the cat, Ken. 14 years is a good run but it's always difficult at the end. Quote
Torpedo Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 Sorry for those bad news, Ken. I wish you can make out the best of the time left. Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 Sorry to hear about your cat, Ken. Wishing you a peaceful next couple several months with him. Quote
Dreadhead Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 Sorry to hear that Ken. I hope you can make his last few months comfortable and enjoyable. Quote
Contrastique Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 Sorry to hear about your cat...losing a pet is really horrible They are so much more than just a pet, certainly after 14 years. I hope he's not in much pain and will have a peaceful last couple of months. Quote
luvdunhill Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 Guys, sorry for the delinquency. Saving the interwebs from the evil criminals has taken up a lot of my free time. My place is still free, and has plenty of room. I tried to start a Google map to identify places, but the race track doesn't come up when I search for it and it wasn't obvious how to add new markers to a saved map. I'll try more later. I remember one of my first conversations with Al and jp# at a really nice brewery in SF when I asked how does one pull off a nice big, fun HC meet. The answer he gave at the time was to make sure tyrion showed up heh. I'm not sure what the formula is these days, but I have a feeling whatever the secret is, I haven't been doing it. Random thought: remember the last time when you rushed out to make sure you had that new piece of gear, or tweak before the upcoming meet? I kinda liked that rush, haven't felt that in a while. So, what can I do at this point to help? What I really need from you guys (i.e. those coming) is an "in" and "out" date/time, that's rather useful. Who's going to be the next person "in"? Quote
luvdunhill Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 ok, figured out the map thing: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=213952002794498271506.0004cced113e7343a031c There are few things I cannot delete. Like "Nice Kicks" no idea why that is there and "313 E 6th" should be Midnight Cowboy Modelling (a brothel turned craft-cocktail bar) and I cannot edit the description, which is annoying. Need to add some more places, but it's a work in progress. Quote
mikeymad Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 not bad - just down the 45... depending on how many beverage stops are needed... Quote
emelius Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 I'd be interested in any live (video?) chat &/or conference call made prior to or during the race...or even after... Quote
