roadtonowhere08 Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 (edited) Not sure if any of you follow weather events for fun, but I bet Hurricane Irene will impact many of you East Coasters. If you are interested in following the event unfold, this link is about as good as it gets: http://www.talkweath...carolina-coast/ Looks like it will grind against the East Coast from N. Carolina to MasNoNoNoNoNoNosetts. It definitely has the potential to cause some serious damage. If you live in NYC, mass transit is expected to completely shut down for possible evacuations. If any of you are expected to feel the effects, stay safe and prepare now. Edited August 26, 2011 by roadtonowhere08 Quote
The Monkey Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 This is a shitty way to end the summer. We're trying to figure out if we should leave eastern LI to head back to our apartment where we could be told to evacuate. Quote
Salt Peanuts Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 Yeah, it's not looking too good. We're hoping that all the damn trees in our yard as well as the ones in the state forest next to our house won't fall. Quote
acidbasement Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 Good luck and stay safe out there. Quote
Salt Peanuts Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 Unfortunately, it's too frickin' wet from the ~6 inches of rain that has already fallen this month. On a more serious note, I need to get some more food/water in the house tomorrow. I'm sure grocery stores won't be filled with people like me. Quote
purk Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 They are saying that this maybe a 100-year flood event. Be safe out there guys! Quote
mrarroyo Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 Be safe and best of luck. If you have not done so already take plenty of pictures and/or video to document the before. It will assist with the insurance company should you suffer damage. Quote
Torpedo Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 Take care of yourselves mates. Stay safe. Sending best wishes for you all. Quote
TMoney Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 Good luck, Monkey! You live in Battery Park City, right? Thats like 20 blocks south of where I'm at in the West Village. I heard they are evacuating most if not all of the Battery Park/Financial District Area. Quote
tyrion Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 Stay safe everyone. Dinny, are you guys under the mandatory evacuation? I just heard something about Wall Street/Battery Park coming under an evacuation order. Quote
guzziguy Posted August 26, 2011 Report Posted August 26, 2011 Good luck to everybody in Irene's path. Stay safe! Quote

shellylh Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 Losing power for a week is not fun! Quote
VPI Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 Went to two grocery stores and one liquor store. Stores had lines for 50-75 per register and the liquor store had cars backed up out onto the street waiting to get into the parking lot. All I wanted was some steaks and beer for the weekend and I came home empty handed. Quote
The Monkey Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 Are you being evacuated? This is one of those times I wish I had a weapons closet. Quote
cetoole Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 Getting ready for the looting and pillaging, Dinny? Shopping list prepared? Quote

tyrion Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 Losing power for a week is not fun! After Wilma we were out of power for 2 weeks. Fortunately, we have a generator so we were able to keep the fridge cold and watch tv since we had Directv. The propane grills came in handy as well. Quote
VPI Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 If my power is out for more than a day I will just have to move. Quote
