Knuckledragger Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 5.9 magnitude quake rocks East Coast. I didn't feel a damn thing here in B'town, but others as far as Boston are reporting noticing it. There are a lot of H-Cers near the epicenter. Everyone's headphones still on their stands? Quote
catscratch Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 Got a fairly mild shake (NJ), nothing serious. I hope this isn't what Obama meant when he said he wanted to shake things up in Washington. Quote
grawk Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 wife and son felt it, I was mowing the lawn, so i didn't (between baltimore md and york pa) Quote
tkam Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 Felt it here in Pittsburgh, PA - office building where I work shook a little bit (we're on the top floor) - it's a 7-story building with 4 of stories underground. Also heard from my brother in Columbia, SC they felt it as well. Quote
Yikes Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 felt it in PA about 70 miles north of Philadelphia. Not much of a shake, but it's the 1st I've ever felt in PA. I've felt small quakes in Co. Ca. and even one in Japan. All small with no damage. Quote
CD44hi Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 we are in an 11th floor, Bethesda, MD. It was a good shake here. Epicenter is 88 miles south from DC. Quote
archosman Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 Hope all of you Head-Case'ers are ok... Quote
penger Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 Am in Boston and felt a little wobble. Quote
HeadphoneAddict Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 We had a 5.3 earthquake last night in Trinidad CO about 11:46PM (still many miles away), but I and about 50 others just west of the Broadmoor golf course felt it. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/dyfi/events/us/c0005idz/us/index.html Quote
bozebuttons Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 It was shaking on long island, first time I actually felt one, wierd feeling. The floor was actually moving. Quote
manaox2 Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 I didn't feel it, but a lot of people on the second stories of the buildings here noticed. I only noticed something was up after trying to find out what was going on with my extremely flaky cell phone service that was affected while at work. Its not often you troubleshoot something here to find out an earthquake was the likely culprit. Quote
diebenkorn Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 In Connectanut but did not feel but I remember the one Northampton (knuckle might remember this) where I was half asleep and screamed at the people upstairs to shut up Quote
Dreadhead Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 Was in downtown dc in a basement parking structure. Pretty good shake. Traffic sucked when I left. Quote
mikeymad Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 Hope the East Coasters had their bottles secured.... Quote
Dreadhead Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 Just realized my new lake house is near to the epicenter. It's going to be a long night of driving.... Quote
Salt Peanuts Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 Nothing up here in northern MasNoNoNoNoNoNosetts. I haven't felt an earthquake since I left Japan 22 years ago. Quote
Yikes Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 A friend in Northampton Mass claimed that he clearly felt the EQ, maybe it skips areas due to standing wave cancelation. Quote
cetoole Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 I felt nothing at work today, but something knocked my umbrella over from its position leaning against the wall. Quote
sschell Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 Was on the 4th floor of an office building in Rockville, MD. Most definitely felt it. Quote
blessingx Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 East Coast and earthquakes. Cute! Quote

Nebby Posted August 24, 2011 Report Posted August 24, 2011 I was surprised how many folks at work ran out of the buildings while the earthquake was going on. Quote
