volcomjerk Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 Hey guys looking to get some decent speakers and an amp for my car. I have a nav system built into my car so I don't want to touch that. Any experts here?
tkam Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 http://forum.sounddomain.com/ used to be a pretty good resource for Car Audio. Not sure how it is these days.
volcomjerk Posted December 12, 2006 Author Report Posted December 12, 2006 *sigh* Now that I think about it, I don't want to sign up for another forum and get all caught up in buying things. Maybe I'll just make it simple and go to Best Buy and buy some MB Quartz and some decent amp and call it a day haha anything is bound to be better than my stock speakers.
Grand Enigma Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 Kenwood makes very decent amps and good prices. As for speakers, I have always loved Rockford Fosgate.
volcomjerk Posted December 12, 2006 Author Report Posted December 12, 2006 Do you know a good place to get that done for those products? I love Rockford Fosgate and totally forgot about them. My Uncle had a pair and they are amazing. I think I gotta find some rat shack place that does installations Best Buy and Circuit City are expensive.
Grand Enigma Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 It really is very simple to install speakers and amps in cars. Just look your car up online for how to remove the door panels or whatever you might have to do to get to the speakers. Also, a Factory Service Manual could help... will run like $90... but they are great! Tell you how to completely take apart your car and put it back together again. Lastly, you can order your stuff from Crutchfield as their install guides are actually quite good. Some recent retail shops are PC Richard and Son, Nobody Beats the Wiz, and the like...
volcomjerk Posted December 13, 2006 Author Report Posted December 13, 2006 Ah Crutchfield forgot about that place. Good prices thanks!
Dusty Chalk Posted December 13, 2006 Report Posted December 13, 2006 I've heard nothing but good things about MB Quart speakers. Also, I've had experience with Pioneer aftermarket speakers which I liked, and a Clarion OEM system in my current vehicle which I avidly adore. I was actually thinking of upgrading it, but after hearing some other systems (a custom Lexus job) at a place that sold and installed Focal speakers, I decided I didn't want them messing up my car. It actually sounds really good for my purposes, and I'd be hard pressed to improve it.
