recstar24 Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 So i probably need to pickup two more sets of balanced xlr cables and two digital coaxial cables. My gut says mono price, not sure if the price jump to blue jeans is worth it. Figured I would ask around here where people's go to place is for cables on the cheap.
grawk Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 blue jeans and monoprice are who I use. and Nate jeans but they're out of business.
agile_one Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 Try Markertek http://www.markertek.com/?gclid=CJCwoYGjuKkCFcPt7Qodg1mc5g Been using them for years.
recstar24 Posted June 15, 2011 Author Report Posted June 15, 2011 what would make it "worth it" for you? i have a combo of blue jeans, mogami cables i put together myself, and monoprice. the monoprice cables are definitely the ugliest of the bunch. they work as well as any of the others. Great question. Honestly I have no idea. Actually, I currently have mogami from the pre to power amp, my current digital coaxial is monoprice, so I am going to copy you and go with blue jeans so we can be friends.
dsavitsk Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 Most of the pro audio suppliers will also make their own cables. I tend to use Performance Audio http://www.performanceaudio.com/cgi/browse_brand.cgi?brand=304
blessingx Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 (edited) Use BJC for most things, but their analog prices are pretty close to Emotiva. July 4th sale coming. Further 33% off http://emotiva.com/interconnects.shtm Edited June 16, 2011 by blessingx
livewire Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 Blue jean on the xlr's and homebrew mogami for others using gold plated neutrik and cardas connectors.
The Monkey Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 I don't like monoprice cables--shitty build quality. I've used Redco in the past with fine results, in addition to several of the suggestions above.
digger945 Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 I use Hosa or Livewire from Guitar Center. Mogami if I find something in the clearance section. They seem to be well made and I have had no problems for years. I have a very nice BJ digital coax, but prefer Apogee because it is super flexible like a spark plug wire.
Fitz Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 you do realize that most BJs are between a woman and a man, yes? Well who the hell let that happen?
Fitz Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 evolutionary selection pressure, mostly. Ehh, not to burst your bubble, but BJs have no direct impact on reproduction, therefore I don't think it really applies there.
recstar24 Posted June 16, 2011 Author Report Posted June 16, 2011 I believe fellatio has been known, or at minimum there have been documented cases, where it actually has helped with fertilization.
shellylh Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 I've bought some XLR cables from heels-6 on ebay. He seems to make nice products and they are slightly cheaper than BJC. If you contact him, he will make them the length you want. Ebay link
Fitz Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 you are incorrect. "make the male zygote carrier happy" has a strong correlation to "give me a baby," if you are a female. it's not just humans who use fellatio as a sexual lure. for instance, female bats that perform fellatio have more bat babies than female bats that don't. While I will defer to your knowledge of bat reproductive habits, I respectfully disagree on your observation regarding male<->female reproductive habits. While a female with the goal of producing a baby may be more inclined to give a BJ, the act of giving a BJ itself is not necessarily indicative of an increased likelihood of reproduction. It may also be indicative of a desire for consumption of semen, enjoyment of the act itself, or pity for the male's repeated request for the act to be performed. This dialogue may also be indicative that I'm getting a little bit drunk.

Well that makes sense especially from an evolutionary standpoint. I always attributed it to being simply an old wives tale. I remember a couple that were friends of mine were having difficulty having a baby, and they decided to see a fertility specialist. On the first meeting, my friends mentioned the doctor asked them about any fellatious activity (the husband later told me "none"). They set up a check up appointment in a couple of months but it was not needed, they became pregnant within a month.
recstar24 Posted June 16, 2011 Author Report Posted June 16, 2011 Back on topic. I went ahead and ordered a balanced pair and a digital coaxial from BJC. Now Jacob and I can be friends. Shelly, that is a good link, I remember seeing that in an old head case thread. Seems about the same thing as the BJC version but cheaper. I decided to go with the Belden which BJC offers as their standard recommendation.
Dusty Chalk Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 you do realize that most BJs are between a woman and a man, yes?Citation needed.

Ya, but some male bats suck each other off too, not that there's anything wrong with that.
grawk Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 I'd be interested in seeing the research that says most bjs are male:female. A quick perusal of craigslist "casual encounters" suggests otherwise.
mypasswordis Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 I think I saw somewhere that most BJs are female:female NSFW: http://img4.gelbooru.com//images/886/3fce24e29df8d8b6a66d65068766699f.gif?1085749
grawk Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 I still don't think that follows. Hetero couples may be the most common, but annecdotal evidence suggests way more sexual activity, especially of a more varied nature, happen in non-hetero and non-long term relationships.
Augsburger Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 I believe fellatio has been known, or at minimum there have been documented cases, where it actually has helped with fertilization. I always thought it was diamond rings that did that.
