manaox2 Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 I'm glad I watched that in private, I was laughing embarrassingly hard. The brutal honesty of these reviews is perhaps one of the greatest favors ever done for the consumers of headphones. I'm so glad that there is someone able and willing to do this. I've been getting tired of everyone comparing the edition ten with high end Stax. Like they even compare.
n3rdling Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 "You hit 30% distortion? I'm not even mad, that's amazing."
Wmcmanus Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 The video scores! Tyll... what more needs to be said.
nattonrice Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 (edited) Brilliant! Why can't more audio reviews be like this? Edited June 8, 2011 by nattonrice
Tyll Hertsens Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Thanks guys and gals, I love my new job. Holy shit Tyll! I just returned from a LA Audio Society function and some guy from Ultrasone was asking everyone if you start your own car most mornings. THE Show Newport? Shit, I was there, sorry I missed bumping into you.
Eric5676 Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Thanks guys and gals, I love my new job. The site looks great and like everyone else has said, that review is weep-from-laughing-so-hard great.
purk Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 (edited) No surprise really. The ED9 that I heard wasn't all that good for the asking price. Wonder which is better? Really glad you help spreading the words Tyll!!! Love the video as well! Edited June 8, 2011 by purk
rhythmdevils Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Problem with the ED10's is that they put all their R&D money into the sound and forgot the most important part- rare earth metals and endangered animal skins and diamonds. Oh wait...
Tyll Hertsens Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 ^^^^ Little teary laughter trickling gently to you sir.
mikeymad Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Problem with the ED10's is that they put all their R&D money into the sound and forgot the most important part- rare earth metals and endangered animal skins and diamonds. Oh wait... Good to 'see' you Whitney... Cheers
Fitz Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Good to 'see' you Whitney... Cheers No kidding. It's about time you made your way over here man.
rhythmdevils Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Thanks guys! I know I don't know why I stayed away for so long. It's amazing, all the cool people who disappeared over the years are here! Now I know why it's so noobs gone wild over there lately.
roadtonowhere08 Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Been a while since I have been around a headphone site, but damn Tyll, those reviews are hilarious. Love the site. "Two thousand, seven hundred and forty-nine dollars... wow..."
rogue Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Most excellent review. And to think, I almost bought an Ed.9..yeesh.
Currawong Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 (edited) The ED9s were just lucky timing, before Sennheiser, Beyer and others had their new flagships out, so, being shiny, they were hyped to death. It's entertaining watching at least one owner, in massive denial, go nuts every time the measurements are mentioned. Edited June 9, 2011 by Currawong
HeadphoneAddict Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 When I first got the Edition 9 they were fun in a 1980's "Cerwin-Vega kinda way", but once I'd listen to another headphone and compare them they always sounded dark and bloated in comparison. I'm not unhappy that I got rid of them after Naamanf planted the idea in my head at the 2009 Colorado meet, and with the money I got from them I was able to land his old O2 Mk1.
FrederikS Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 Interesting review, I love the detailed analysis that Tyll's site features. The price is just way over the top.
blessingx Posted March 16, 2012 Report Posted March 16, 2012 Nice contrast to Tylls review... Best Cheap Headphones: Ultrasone Edition 10 Headphones Review http://ow.ly/1Iz3LY
Leonardo Drummond Posted March 16, 2012 Report Posted March 16, 2012 Not sure what to make of this "review", but I hate this: "The overall sound quality is perfect! Clear treble, vivid midrange, and powerful bass!" Can't they be even more general? It's like when those magazines who know nothing about audio decide to write about headphones. You end up reading that good cans are "potent". What does that even mean? Drives me nuts...
Clarkmc2 Posted March 17, 2012 Report Posted March 17, 2012 Just waiting for the Photoshop mavens here to post shots of "Potent Cans."
gurubhai Posted March 17, 2012 Report Posted March 17, 2012 "Potent" generally refers to the ability to fuck you over. I guess they are spot on in that regard.
