I have gigabit. I'm waiting until I can afford a laptop that can handle gigabit wireless, then I'll get some bad-ass router to serve it up, all so I can win the thread.

All this overtime has got to be good for something, right? Oh, wait, all the overtime is to pay bills? *sigh* Oh well.

EPB Fiber Optics serves up 100Mbit for 57.99$, or 1Gbit for 69.99$/mo (no taxes/extra fees). No cap, just a dumb pipe.

OK, I think I must've been downloading something in the background.

That's probably getting close to a hardware limitation on a 2.5 year old laptop that won't even support my 5GHz network.

Looks like Comcast's free upgrade of their Blast! plan level has kicked in here, nice bump from 50/mbit to 105/mbit:

Oooh. Looks like that's a free upgrade from Blast! to Extreme! (for existing Double / Triple play customers )

Although Others have said you can get the same deal ( for non double / triple play customers )

Do you have a Docsis 3.0 Modem (as I guess they get the speed by binding two channels ?)

Breach your 300GB Cap even faster!

I'm still pretty amazed by my 16/3 speed.  It'd be cheaper if I didn't live in the boonies, but it's still fast enough I generally don't think it's the limit to what I'm doing.  I don't do torrents tho.

Dammit, I'm not an existing double- or triple-play customer.  I may contact them and tell them that if they upgrade me, I promise I won't switch to Fios when it gets added to my neighborhood (which I was recently informed is going to happen).

hmm. I just checked and I've got DOCIS3.0 modems at both homes. Both are double play too.... I may give that a try. It never seems though that my connection to them is the bottleneck, it's usually somewhere else on the internets...

Looks like Comcast has rolled out their upgrade here. Was perusing DSL forums that seemed to indicate they would remote reboot your cable modem at some point. or you could just reboot it yourself. so I did, using http://192.168.100.1/cmConfig.htm maybe able to use this  for your own (see if http://192.168.100.1/index.htm works for you - and you have a SB modem)

Rebooted, and voila!

For comparison, previously, earlier in the year

Guess I'll hit the data cap in half the time now! ;)

Because: No contention? :)

Or are you just Doppler shifting the packets as you race towards the tower?

Either way, not too shabby.
