Talked to the guy who oversaw the first (legal) cannabis warehouse in Alaska for about half an hour, and about halfway through the local main weed dealer did a giant wheelie on his bike across the main boulevard (he's untouchable, including by cops). Life works in mysterious ways.

edit: also, stay safe Cali

Why did he only own it for about half an hour?

Cannabis has an interesting legal history in Alaska...

Still v. smoky here. Probably not all pot byproduct.

The great wager... open all the windows and air the place out or keep the hatches battened down another night?

Seriously... the air has just been disgusting. I've got a big headache and I'm sure its from breathing this crap.

Update on the wine situation. Not great but better than initially feared:

Another positive -- kids and I tried to sign up to help out at the nearest evacuation center and were turned down because they'd already had such a flood of volunteers that all spots were filled for the next few weeks. Their school PTA is putting together backpacks of toiletries, stationery, stuffed animals, pajamas etc. for kids in the affected areas, so we assembled a couple of those and dropped them off. Classroom was already half full of bags on the first day of the effort -- nice to see.

Ohio isn't burning down, but Wednesday was one of the worst days I've ever experienced. I've had some pretty bad days. I'm kind of in awe that I've grown enough to not be a complete and total wreck. I'm not even drinking my way out (I wish I were).

I hope the Cali crew starts having better luck.

Been busy with our house closing so missed a bit. Glad all the NorCal peeps are OK. Hoping for better air and maybe some moisture to help out the situation. Stay safe.

That video that Mikey posted is really fucking haunting!  It's like a movie about a post-apocalyptic world.....so horrible that it is reality.....wishing the best for everyone there......

(Lets just say, a turkey with three  dedicated threads, and over 120 replies, on nextdoor.com, is big with people with time on their hands)

But I think they may be contemplating getting away from the area.

My father got cataract surgery yesterday. And did not care about it. Also I made him help organising/unboxing my speakers.

He went to doctor for control today and doctor said that lens is moved. Fuck I feel guilty as hell. He have to have another surgery today.

I feel hell today...

Sorry to hear. My father had the same thing happen many years ago. If the retina is not detached, there is a good chance it will be OK in the end.

Definitely, he'll need just a lens repositioning if the retina is holding in place.

As he said to me just one leg got deattached from eye. I smoked 1 pack of cigarettes since the morning. ffs I feel extremely guilty.

That won't help a tiny bit to get his lens in position, so relax and take care of yourself, you need to be fine to take care of him too :)
