tyrion Posted February 18, 2016 Report Posted February 18, 2016 Glad your friends are okay. Hopefully, there is some powder left when you get to the ski area. Skiing powder, always a good time.
Voltron Posted February 18, 2016 Report Posted February 18, 2016 It was 12-24" of snowfall, and our car had over a foot piled on it. Northstar ski area nearby got 21" of fresh powder last night. 3

ironbut Posted February 18, 2016 Report Posted February 18, 2016 Glad your friends are just stuck! In the mean time, time to frolic?
Salt Peanuts Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 Finally started doing our taxes. It was utterly disgusting to see how much we spent on childcare last year. 2
skullguise Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 ^^^ Some of that can be deductable. And, can/do you do a Childcare pre-tax Spending Account? For me, ready for taxes as well. Had to pay a boatload in ES-1 payments because I'm a contractor now without a 401K and can't do any kind of pre-tax (or fuck, post-tax Roth) IRA.
Salt Peanuts Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 ^ Yep, they've been put in as deductions and we do have pre-tax dependent care. I obviously know how much we pay each month fro the kids, but it just hit me a lot harder to see the year's sum, especially when it was more than our mortgage for the year.
grawk Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 into the territory where it'd be cheaper to hire a private tutor with a masters degree?
Augsburger Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 I prefer the twenty year old Swedish au pair route though the wife disagrees. 2
luvdunhill Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 What if the wife WAS the twenty year old Swedish au pair? Well, most of that. Well, the wife part. 3
Absorbine_Sr Posted February 24, 2016 Report Posted February 24, 2016 Got the wall mount for the new Samsung tv. Mounted and looking good. We're quite happy with the purchase. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 4
skullguise Posted February 25, 2016 Report Posted February 25, 2016 Jury Duty today. I and about 25 others sat for a bit, waiting for cases to go to trial (or not). We got called in for a DUI Criminal case. 7 of us were chosen, the rest went back to wait. Eventually, we were told all other cases settled outside of trials, so we got released. Happy to serve, the last time I got impaneled and was a juror for a civil case. Quite fascinating, and I truly feel I'm doing good. This time....read a lot. But now, I'm off for 3+ years again.... 3
crappyjones123 Posted February 25, 2016 Report Posted February 25, 2016 My one and only time so far was on an attempted first degree murder case. Having members of the felons family yell and threaten the jury wasn't all that pleasant. Learned a lot. Not sure I'd want to go through such a case again. It was very draining.
crappyjones123 Posted February 25, 2016 Report Posted February 25, 2016 I actually got upset - one of the jurors was sleeping in the court room while people were testifying. Judge ended up seeing her and kicked her out. Basically deciding that guys life there and she falls asleep. Makes me very leery to go to trial if people like that are deciding my fate.

Then again, I love 12 Angry Men. I was the only one who actually took notes. Half the things said didn't add up. Directions people came from, the way the car was parked etc. We ended up disregarding the testimony of two witnesses because it was the exact opposite of the pictures taken at the crime scene showed. Most of them had already decided the guy was guilty when the girl came to the stand and showed the scar around her neck. I didn't have a problem with that but I did have a problem with assigning first degree attempted murder to it as there wasn't proof supporting that. I stuck to second degree and on the third day after going through my notes, a few other people agreed with me instead of just acting on emotion and saying oh the guy did a horrible thing. Throw the book at him whether there is any evidence for it or not. 12 angry men was a fantastic movie.
n_maher Posted February 28, 2016 Report Posted February 28, 2016 What's the capacity of that thing (X, Y, Z)?
Dreadhead Posted February 28, 2016 Report Posted February 28, 2016 It's a Robo3D R1 plus(I did their Kickstarter a long time ago) which is apparently 8x9x10. Once you figure out the settings for the particular filament you are using it's easy but there is a lot of wasted plastic to get there. I also need to contact them because I broke one of the plastic parts either in the move (over a year ago) or today.(First time I have used it in probably 16 months). I super glued it back together and its not a high load item but I think I should probably see about getting a new part.
shellylh Posted March 1, 2016 Report Posted March 1, 2016 Waiting in line to vote. Huge line for the Democratic primary and no line at all for the Republican primary. That makes me happy (except for the fact that I have to wait in line). 3
