Dreadhead Posted January 26, 2015 Report Posted January 26, 2015 (edited) Thanks all. No contingencies other than the usual home inspection and valuation ones. So in Realtor it is a no contingency offer. Edited January 26, 2015 by Dreadhead
agile_one Posted January 26, 2015 Report Posted January 26, 2015 Great news, Chris. That's gotta be a load off.
crappyjones123 Posted January 26, 2015 Report Posted January 26, 2015 Sold the crack amp a while back. After 2 weeks of not hearing anything, the guy says he is not getting any sound out of the left channel. I asked him to take pictures of the amp and he sends me completely out of focus images from a D700. Not sure how but whatever. He said he couldn't find any loose connections. Asked him to ship the amp back to me. Found this...
CarlSeibert Posted January 26, 2015 Report Posted January 26, 2015 So, in addition to poor photography skills, the guy has poor vision. Come to think about it, maybe all his pictures are out of focus but they look right to him.... 1
skullguise Posted January 26, 2015 Report Posted January 26, 2015 Congrat, Chris! And CJ, that's....crappy..... Us: just got notice office is closed tomorrow, and son's school is officially cancelled. Will work from home, but will have some fun too outside of shoveling.
crappyjones123 Posted January 26, 2015 Report Posted January 26, 2015 Already spent a 1/5 of what I sold the amp for on shipping the amp back and forth. Bleh.
Iron_Dreamer Posted January 26, 2015 Report Posted January 26, 2015 Well, sounds like homeowners may help pull my bacon out of the fire. At least a claim is going, hopefully it will help dampen the blow of that crap. 9
Voltron Posted January 26, 2015 Report Posted January 26, 2015 Yay! Let us know how it plays out, Peter.
morphsci Posted January 26, 2015 Author Report Posted January 26, 2015 That still sucks but glad to hear that there may be some insurance relief.
Augsburger Posted January 26, 2015 Report Posted January 26, 2015 Yep, glad to hear some (hopefully most) of the sting is ameliorated.
blessingx Posted January 27, 2015 Report Posted January 27, 2015 (edited) Hopes it works out Peter. I flew back today and now testing new home theater rig. Edited January 27, 2015 by blessingx 5
HeadphoneAddict Posted January 27, 2015 Report Posted January 27, 2015 Peter, that sucks, sorry to hear it. While our car was at the tow yard for 4 days after the big accident in December, somebody went in and stole over $1300 of cameras, hard drives, speakers, jewelry and other stuff from our car. The accident was a Wednesday, and by that Sunday my other 2 kids drove 4 hours to Kansas to get our stuff, but we didn't know anything was missing for days and weeks until we'd had a chance to go through everything after we got out of the hospital. Our homeowner's ins deductible used to be $300, but Metlife discontinued that policy after 22 years, and it went to $1000 last April. So no sense in filing a $1300 claim here, just to get $300 of it back, and piss them off at the same time. I can't even upgrade my car ins un/under insured portion for the next time, they denied my request - maybe because they fear they're about to get hit really hard I guess. I dunno anymore...
ironbut Posted January 27, 2015 Report Posted January 27, 2015 Hope the claim goes through okay Peter. Looks like one of those Gramavox horns. Interesting idea Ric.
skullguise Posted January 29, 2015 Report Posted January 29, 2015 Not just today, but over the last couple days..... Had a chat with my mom who said a long-lost cousin was trying to get in touch with me through Facebook. Hardly get on anymore, but did, and sent a reply. The woman's name was familiar to me, and I found out she and I worked at the same company for ~4 months in the mid-90's. Her grandmother and my grandmother were sisters. So several email exchanges, a family tree on Ancestry.com, and a dropbox download of a recording made in 1977 during the Shiva visit for her grandmother. In that recording MY grandparents and the only other sibling I regularly saw (and her husband) were talking a lot about stories of the "old days" and the family. What a treat! My grandparents both died over 20 years ago, and the other aunt and uncle even before that.... Now we are working on plans to meet up with these long-lost cousins, and enjoying a romp through our family history! I love this stuff..... 2
n_maher Posted January 29, 2015 Report Posted January 29, 2015 Very cool. Me: yesterday - evidently I left the lights on in the car when I was rushing to get home. Today - it took me 2-1/2hrs to get my car started. Awesome.
skullguise Posted January 29, 2015 Report Posted January 29, 2015 Ouch, ugly shit. No "lights on" alarm or auto-shut-off I'm guessing?
n_maher Posted January 29, 2015 Report Posted January 29, 2015 There's an alarm, this idiot just missed it. I was late getting home and in the rush just missed it. Lesson learned. Really I'm just hoping that it'll restart this afternoon without a jump since the aforementioned idiot didn't pack jumper cables.
acidbasement Posted January 29, 2015 Report Posted January 29, 2015 Best of luck, Nate. I'm celebrating my return to Canada by partaking of our healthcare system. I have a mysteriously sore leg after flying home and need to rule out a DVT. ER last night, ultrasound and follow-up consult today. Hourah!
