Biggest post card I've ever seen. I've already voted, BTW. For the other guy. Meanwhile, I ordered four SD cards from Amazon for work.

attachicon.gifuploadfromtaptalk1414794394910.jpg

And Amazon is losing money on Prime shipping. Not a shock, really.

its been a long time since i got a Prime package that wasnt a 1-day ground package that they had 24 hours to ship out

I did a same day SD card the other day.

Why does anyone ever leave the house.

Because I'm not allowed to take the work home with me, which is understandable.  I know I can trust me, but they don't, and I certainly wouldn't trust some of my co-workers.

Yesterday visited the MD (Managing Director) of avihifi.com in his home to audition his current + prototype active speakers. Suitably impressed; spousal purchase approval granted. Double win! then impressive pub lunch + playing tourist in market town of Cirencester (which dates back to roman times)

Today, said goodbye to our home away from home in Cheltenham

Then played tourist in Cheltenham

Then more playing tourist in the Cotswolds, including several single track roads, lots of wildlife (pheasants, partridges and the like)

Quaint villages, including a pub closed on Mondays and Tuesday's (WTF), lack of cell signal, and chilly weather.

Then back around the M25 in the dark and wet to get back to my Mothers at > 54mpg.

Tired.

My parents had the painters working today and the dog got out and got into a fight with the cat.  I finally caught him and carried him back home (he is a small dog) not even thinking about the chance of the cat having rabies until after cleaning him up.  Now I am trying to decide whether I should go to the ER to try and get shots.  It's not clear that they would give them to me since I didn't have any bites or scratches (I didn't have any contact with the cat and don't think I put my hands in my mouth/eyes before washing them).   I did wear my clothes that touched the dog for a while before washing them.   I tried to see if I could find the owner of the cat and it seems that the only person with cats is a crazy cat lady with ~25 cats (some of which might be stray) according to the neighbors.  Seems unlikely that the cat lady has all the cats vaccinated.  I am guessing it is really unlikely that I have rabies so I am probably going to wait until I'm in Houston and see my doctor on Friday.  I think as long as you don't have symptoms, the shots can be effective.   I really don't need this.  This is my last night here, my mom is upset about my brother, and I don't have time to be dealing with this.

Yes, I mean "a cat."

This cat lives near my parents house (in Southern California).  I would have gone to my doctors but I am still in California (I plan to go back tomorrow but won't be there until late at night).  When you mean that you'd be as worried about rabies as Ebola, I assume that you mean that you wouldn't be too worried (since I am not worried about getting Ebola). Do you think it is ok to wait until Friday?  That would be about 48 hours after the fight.

Thanks for the link Jacob.  I'll make an appointment for Friday and see what they say.   My mom, who held the dog too while washing him off said that she wasn't going to go get the shots.  I can't force her.

Trust me, Shelly, you don't want to go through the rabies protocol unless you really need to.  5 ER visits over 2 weeks and a needle each time is not fun, just from a wasted time perspective.

Me - had the silly notion to watch TV tonight.  Our X1/Comcast DVR kept throwing fits so I gave it the recommended reboot and now it won't connect to anything.  Joy.  So on a whim I called Comcast.  They're so screwed they won't even take calls.  It just has a short message that says something like, "We're sorry.  We are currently experiencing higher call volumes than normal.  Please try your call again later."   Damn.  I'm a glutton for punishment so I decided to see if their online chat function was working.  Well, that at least let me enter a cue.  Too bad there are, no shit, 1500+ people in front of me waiting to scream at someone.  Or at least there were when I started typing this.  I just looked, I'm now #1257, I'm sure it'll only be a few minutes before it's my turn...

I've never even considered the possibility of getting rabies in the manner you describe, Shelly. I don't think you have anything to worry about in that regard and I'm certain your doctor will say the same. I really hope you don't sweat it or worry any more about your mom getting it. You've got enough things on your plate already.

Nate, in my recent interaction with Comcast one of the dedicated options early in the phone menu was something along the lines of "if you are experiencing a screen resolution issue with the X1 system press N" . Encouraging. Not.

Shelly, I'll defer to the domain experts, and just send more (((Hugs)))

Shelly,

The only way for you to have been exposed to rabies is if the cat was rabid and you had been exposed to their saliva. Even if the cat was rabid and introduced saliva into a wound of the dog the dog would not be infectious until the virus reached the brain/salivary tissue which takes days to weeks. As Reks said you should talk to your doctor if you have any concern but waiting until you return home is not likely to be any great risk.

Yeah, I was more concerned that I was holding the dog/possibly touching the wound and may have touched my face/mouth before washing my hands/washing my clothes.  I don't know how quickly rabies dies and/or saliva dries out.  Also, our dog may have a wound on the inside of the mouth as well as on the outside since he was having trouble eating. I'm not sure how long the cat's saliva would last in the dog's mouth after the fight.

Glad I didn't call last night.  We were having issue requiring a couple of reboots before the remote for two receivers started to work again.  Despite these issues which come up from time to time, still happy with the switch from Directv.

Shelly, sorry to hear about the dog/cat issue.  Glad you didn't get bit by the cat.  We have a couple of cats in the neighborhood that I try to avoid as they will come to the edge of driveway and sidewalk when I walk my dog by in the area.  One actually went after my dog on one walk.  If I could have reacted faster I would have kicked it like a football.  Cats need to be in the house.

This. I wouldn't be worried for myself, in the worst case I'd be worried for the dog. As I see it dogs and cats fight anytime without rabies being involved.

Sorry to hear about the rabies scare.

Me, having the more bizarre and weird adventure with Amazon, and a reseller (within amazon), trying to have them fulfill an order. I think Amazon customer service is down in the gutter, severely. Seriously FUBAR.
