bhjazz Posted January 21, 2012 Report Posted January 21, 2012 (edited) Will be heading to the Seattle meet today. Main goal is to hear Doc B's PCM1704 DAC...hope he can bring the prototype he's hinted at. Otherwise, mixed feelings about this meet. The general disorganization of the Seattle group reigns supreme, yet nobody seems to care. Weird. I must be a picky bitch. Oh well, looks like some cool raffle items so maybe I'll luck out. http://www.head-fi.org/t/576440/seattle-meet-front-panel-express-1-21-2012 for reference. Edited January 21, 2012 by bhjazz Quote
shellylh Posted January 21, 2012 Report Posted January 21, 2012 What is worse than having to spend your Saturday reading job application files? Having your internet go out every hour while trying to access the files and then having to go into work to finish it. Thanks a lot comcast. Quote
Salt Peanuts Posted January 21, 2012 Report Posted January 21, 2012 ^ I see Comcast is just as reliable in Texas as it is in Mass (I'm happy to report I no longer use their service). Just finished clearing off the driveway while my daughter and my wife played in the snow. It was probably one of the easiest shoveling I've done in a while. Quote
skullguise Posted January 21, 2012 Report Posted January 21, 2012 Been there, Shelly, bummer to have to go thru it. Last big storm here, we actually kept electricity but lost all Comcast services (phone, TV, internet) for 3-4 days IIRC. Made for a weird life Me today: went to visit a friend recovering from some surgery. It's the third time they've gone in, and they found out they'll need to do one more again. He wasn't happy. But it's not terminal by any means, and he'll eventually be OK. Quote
blessingx Posted January 22, 2012 Report Posted January 22, 2012 Shelly, sorry to hear. Got a call last night and had to head into work at midnight for several hours. Day of office travels. Quote
shellylh Posted January 22, 2012 Report Posted January 22, 2012 Got a call last night and had to head into work at midnight for several hours. Sure, that's what you told Mel. You really just went there for some shut eye. Quote
blessingx Posted January 22, 2012 Report Posted January 22, 2012 Sure, that's what you told Mel. You really just went there for some shut eye. I've used it for "in-law" avoidance recently. Perhaps I need to expand the system. Zzzzz. Quote
n_maher Posted January 22, 2012 Report Posted January 22, 2012 Currently sitting at the airport, headed to the pac-west for a week of training. Quote
Voltron Posted January 22, 2012 Report Posted January 22, 2012 Fly safe, Nate. Where to exactly? Quote
n_maher Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 Finally at the hotel, sleepy time. Unsurprisingly it's overcast and misting... Quote
shellylh Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 ^That's a long day of travel. That is one good thing about living in the middle of the country (and in a city with a hub). Quote
Iron_Dreamer Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 Naw, a long day of travel is 16-20+ hours of driving Quote
n_maher Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 Naw, a long day of travel is 16-20+ hours of driving 16hrs of driving, sitting, flying, sitting, flying, driving seemed long enough. And yeah, Shelly, you've got to love the Gov who only cares about the lowest fare and not the shortest travel time. At least all of yesterday goes in the books as comp time that I can use as vacation time. Quote
The Monkey Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 Little Monkey and I stayed home sick. Quote
Wmcmanus Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 (edited) The people next door were having some kind of party for kids, apparently. An ice cream truck showed up and parked on the road right in front of my house. Then for about 30 minutes, all I heard was, "Da da - da da da, da da - da da dum, Da da, da da dada, da dada - da dum." Over and over and over again... Edited January 23, 2012 by Wmcmanus Quote

n_maher Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 Oh, and as for what I did today. Took the ferry from Bremerton into Seattle and spent a few hours walking around. It was a very un-Seattle day with clear skies and temps in the upper 40s. Couldn't have asked for better. Seattle seems to be a nice place and if the weather wasn't shit for 350 days out of the year I think I could live here. Quote
grawk Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 It's actually nice may-september in seattle, they just don't like admitting that. Quote
grawk Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 he'd have to stop being "good santa" Quote
Grahame Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 Why didn't you pick out a double-barrel shotgun and make it go away? Or call in an air strike. Remember, this is HC. Quote

Sounds nice... except for the upper 40s but I guess that isn't too bad for someone from the NE. Quote
