VPI Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Moved from the lovely Fairfax Inn to the JW Marriott LA Live. A bit of a change I would have to say. From a 200 sq ft. room with a bathroom and 27" tube television to a 1100 sq ft room with two bathrooms, full kitchen, dining room, living room two 60" plasmas, butler service and TVs in the bathroom mirrors. grawk Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Butler service? Holy crap! I never got that perk with 3 years of being marriott platinum. Quote
boomana Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 That room is the size of my whole house. Quote

Jeff, how many airbeds can that room accomodate? Quote
Voltron Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Jeff, how many airbeds can that room accomodate? [although "rofs" -- rolling on floor snoring -- would be even more appropriate] Quote
mypasswordis Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 [although "rofs" -- rolling on floor snoring -- would be even more appropriate] Having finally ... lived through?... the massively loud snorers (less guzziguy), I finally know what you guys are talking about. And let me tell you it is a joking matter at all times except when you are a few feet away experiencing it firsthand. Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Dude, earplugs. As much as I gave Steve a hard time, it really didn't bother me. Quote

mypasswordis Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Dude, earplugs. As much as I gave Steve a hard time, it really didn't bother me. Says the guy who got annoyed at people talking quietly near him. Once I fall asleep nothing short of a properly sized earthquake or the like can wake me up, so I'm actually fine with it as well. Dusty Chalk Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Quietly my ass -- I had the earplugs in, and it still woke me up. Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 WTF are you people talking about? I don't snore! This may or may not be true -- what you do should be measured on another scale entirely. Srsly*, dude, what do you use for amplification? Nice dynamic range, whatever it is. *And by 'srsly', I mean not so much. Quote
catscratch Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 House heater died last night, and now I'm using tube amps to heat my bedroom. Never will I complain about how much heat the BH puts out. The rest of the house is cold as a meat locker (our insulation _really_ sucks) but my bedroom is a toasty 75 degrees. And all with the added benefit of listening to several really kick-ass systems! Quote
aardvark baguette Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 tube amp weather, fucking A Quote
luvdunhill Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 thanks guys. chris, were you an operations research guy or some sort of niche engineering major? i only ask because operations research is what i am planning on doing next and just found out that columbia has a "better" OR program than most other places barring cmu. as much as i would like to be back in cambridge, i am starting to realize that i have to grow up and assume my responsibilities as an adult fairly soon. as such, attending a school that offers better placement might be the smarter thing to do. then again i dont know anything about columbia. any insight would be much appreciated. depending on how the first year goes, i will either pick financial engineering or go towards modeling dynamical systems (i think this is what you do but i might be mistaken). I did graduate work at Columbia and rather enjoyed it. It was in Computer Science though. Quote
MASantos Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Picked up my by helmet and apparel at the shop, gave the entry payment for a new motorbike and also the 1st payment for my new house rental! Quite a happy day today! Quote
Dreadhead Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 Learned from my city planning department that if I keep my garden shed (actually workout/bike shed) below 80sq ft then I don't need planning approval or a permit and I can put it right up against my property line with no issues. This probably saved me $2000 in architects fees alone. I'm stoked because what I thought was going to cost $10000+ is going to be much less than that. Awesome Quote
The Monkey Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 The gotdam scroll button on my mouse has somehow become inverted, so that when I scroll up, it scrolls goes down onscreen and vice-versa. This bugs me so much that I am thinking about going home. Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 So just swap the left and right buttons and hold it upside down. Or: defenestration. Quote
Salt Peanuts Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 When I got to my car at the end of the day, I found several long scratches on the driver side of my car, on both front and rear doors. They're not deep scratches but still annoying. The fact I've only had the car for 8 months makes it worth. Quote
The Monkey Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 I'll bet it was Honey Badger. He's crazy. Quote
