When I talk with Siri I always say "please" and "thank you."  Even though I'd still be a number or "thing" I want them to MAYBE remember I was nice when AI and the machines take over.... 🤣

As usual, I can never tell if it is me or Artificial Intelligence. In this case, I think Grahame's post could go either way...

It was yesterday, but niece Dorothy and I walked  the dogs in the newly renovated redwood grove nearby. Nate actually walked through this park before the additions of new paths and boardwalks and such. Anyway, there was a storm recently when a fair number of trees came down.

<snip>

It's funny, Al, I was actually thinking of that trip the other day and as a result, am making Detroit style pizza today.  Before reading your post, and while making the pizza, I was also pondering memories and how there are some that I'm unlikely to forget despite the passage of time.  Driving up and back to SF from Monterey is one of them, the overnight with you and Steve, and the walk in the woods, being something that I think I'll always look back upon fondly.

^ Oh look, baby Redwoods. 😋

My trip to MOA 2 enamored me to Fairfax. I thought of it as an enchanted forrest village.

Now that feeling is multiplied here in Nicasio. I halfway expect to see and hear the Seven Dwarves at any moment.

Actually yesterday, but visited the DeYoung Museum for the last day of the Tamara de Lempicka exhibit. Amazing work. These are just a few of the paintings exhibited...

Wait, what? That doesn't look like it's shaped like a vagina? I guess that's what "groovy" eludes to. Straight people and their subtleties, I just don't get it.

Nothing to do with what I did today, but thought this might be a good thread to gather ideas.

I've been wanting to get an armband tattoo for a while now. I've thought about this for many years, and feel like I'm ready to pull the trigger.

I'd like it to tell my life story. I'd of course like to represent my Carpentey career, I'd also like bring in my time commercial fishing in the Berring Sea. And lastly the fact that I'm a gay man. Nothing needs to be absolutely specific, and I'm not interested in having a big rainbow on my arm. Something more subtle about all three ideas. Oh, and possibly Suzy making an appearance. She will always be my special girl.

I'm looking for ideas, possibly even some sketches to take to the tattoo artist.

There are some very creative folks here, and I could use your help.

I'm thinking midway up the arm, not a wrist band. Maybe 4" in overall width.

That's a lot to combine in one tattoo. Are you looking for a band around your arm? Maybe make it chronological as it wraps around? I hope you pick the dead guy on ice in the hold to represent part of your fishing career!

It's been a long time since I was in the area we're staying this week, which is the Sierra foothills near Arnold and Murphys. It's got some goldrush charm left but wow there are a lot of bars, restaurants and wineries in these little towns now! Yesterday we walked through part of Calaveras Big Trees state park and it is aptly named.

These Giant Sequoias are quite different from the Coastal Redwoods near us in Mayberry. The sequoias are the world's largest trees by volume -- which is immense! -- while the redwoods are the world's tallest trees.

I failed to take pics of the gigantic stump near the beginning of the trail. Some assholes 150 years ago decided it would be cool to cut down the largest tree in this grove after it was discovered. The story is told in the plaque below but stump is still incredibly solid and people walk on it every day.

^ Arnold, nearby Mercer Caves and Moaning Caverns, and Murphy's wine tasting were our semi hide from the pandemic trips. Hope you all have a blast.
