Dusty Chalk Posted November 22, 2015 Report Posted November 22, 2015 Leaf it! No, seriously, that's what nature does, and there's now a way to break it up with a lawnmower have the lawn mulch itself, essentially.

As I recall, you have a good amount of space. Even with the riding tractor, I imagine it gets tedious. I echo Al's Dew Eet.....
en480c4 Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 We got to go up and visit with the new dog again today. She's due in late November, and since we're going to take both her and the one puppy, we will actually be able to bring them home closer to Christmas than late January like we had thought. It's still going to be tough to wait, but she's a sweet dog and it'll be worth it. Well, got some bad news... The dog is fine, but she appears to have lost the puppy. Things were looking good this time last week, but mid-week she seemed to transition back to pre-pregnancy condition. We were really looking forward to having the two new additions, but if we're honest, this will be much more manageable, and we'll get to bring her home as soon as they can spay her. We'll probably get to pick her up the first weekend in December. Disappointing, but we were told this was a real possibility, do not entirely unexpected, either. 7
skullguise Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 Bad and good news Ian. Sorry she lost the pup, but it sounds like you'll get her a bit sooner, which is good. And you'll worry less about taking care of the puppy.... Good luck!
Voltron Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 Sorry to hear about the pup, but glad the mama dog is heading home to you soon. Two dogs and one daughter will keep you plenty occupied.
acidbasement Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 Dug the hole today. You know, the hole that you dig at the start of every winter before the ground freezes, just in case one of your 8 pets dies in the next 5 months and you need a shallow grave on short notice? Nobody else does that? 4
luvdunhill Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 I don't know what to say to that. Do you also build your own ice rinks? 1
Dusty Chalk Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 Eventual cheers and sooner cheers, Ian. 1
shellylh Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 Sorry to hear about the pup, but glad the mama dog is heading home to you soon. en480c4 Posted November 24, 2015 Report Posted November 24, 2015 Thanks everyone. We actually got a bit of good news today... They were actually able to spay the pup today, and she's doing well, so we'll be able to pick her up Saturday! 6
n_maher Posted November 24, 2015 Report Posted November 24, 2015 Fingers and toes that it's smooth sailing from here, Ian.
Voltron Posted November 24, 2015 Report Posted November 24, 2015 Today I proved that I can bring home the bacon and fry it up in a pan. I mixed & poured concrete while simultaneously baking cookies. And I even did a little lawyering in the middle. Importantly, I marked the foundation with cryptic symbols. 19
Dusty Chalk Posted November 24, 2015 Report Posted November 24, 2015 That evidence is concrete. You rock. And other puns. 2
Augsburger Posted November 24, 2015 Report Posted November 24, 2015 With rebar no less? Mark me impressed Al. So did you brew any spirits while multitasking all those projects?
skullguise Posted November 24, 2015 Report Posted November 24, 2015 Time capsule-like material for sure, congrat and job well done.
swt61 Posted November 24, 2015 Report Posted November 24, 2015 Me thinks the new version might be a bit more substantial, and a bit larger. Nice work!
Augsburger Posted November 24, 2015 Report Posted November 24, 2015 Is the cement retaining wall for El Nino preparation or just an outstanding project? We are replacing a part of our roof just in case the 100 year flood does come our way.
swt61 Posted November 24, 2015 Report Posted November 24, 2015 (edited) It will be a retaining foundation for an outbuilding. The shed will be newly built and multi-purpose. Edited November 24, 2015 by swt61 2

Torpedo Posted November 26, 2015 Report Posted November 26, 2015 Wow! I wish it never ever needs to have its resistance checked.
