Hiked up Mount Washington for our 25th wedding anniversary B) , finally got around to posting the vid:

Got an "Asian Dating" advertisement with the video.  Are they trying to tell you something?

I'm jealous because before my lung disease, fibromyalgia, and chronic tendonitis my wife an I did hikes and camp outs like that all the time here in Colorado.  Then I could still do short hikes with an oxygen tank and a vicodin.  But after the car accident last December I'm afraid those days are gone forever.

On our honeymoon we did a hiking and backpacking trip trough the Canadian Rockies for 2 weeks, traveling east from Vancouver, through Jasper, Banf, Lake Louise, Waterton National Park, Glacier National Park, Jackson Hole and Yellowstone.  I miss that.

Awesome video and pics above....!

Me: spent Rosh Hashana (Jewish New Year) dinner with Karen and mother-in-law at her place's restuarant; we ended up with 2 others from the place who knew her.  The wife is having some simpler memory issues but was very upbeat.  The husband has major hearing issues but is an incredibly intelligent and funny man.

He is 96, she is 89.

What an interesting night!  Turns out they spent a lot of time near where I grew up, and knew my grandparents, stepfather, and a cousin.

Invited by some friends for a Korean bbq lunch (had i known the name of the restaurant was "Kimchee Tofu House" I may have felt differently) but the food was fun, and it was quiet enough to hold a conversation and catch up. Then after that, some shopping at an Asian Supermarket.Unusual things to look at (non standard flavoured kit-kats anyone?) live fish, or  just salmon heads from the seafood counter. Different.

Yeah, a trip to the Asian food market is a standard part of our trips home to Cleveland. I'd taken some pics this past Labor Day weekend, but decided not to gross you all out. But, since you gave me such a great opening ...

And the grossest thing of all... Daniel ASKED to try balut, because of my frequently told story of how I used to eat balut (fertilized duck egg/embryo) when I was a kid, until one day when I got an over developed one, a duckling fetus head popped out at me, and freaked me out. Never again. Blech.

Oh, and awesome pics, Ric! Just gorgeous!

Hmmm had a post typed and it didn't go through for some reason...

Anyhow, the amp was in gestation for some 9 months. Last December I bounced some ideas off of Doug for an amp for the JH16s but kinda fizzled out over time. This past summer I got a new roommate who studies at home as well so I couldn't use the speakers anymore to watch lectures or listen any music. Approached Doug again to design/build something that I couldn't head the noise floor of which had been the issue with all the amps I had tried in the past. Happy to report that I don't hear anything that I am not supposed to with this amp. :)

Doug calls it the DB3 - Diamond Buffer V3 and man does it buffer the shit out of whatever it is buffering. I gave full creative control of the amp to Doug and was very pleasantly surprised to open up the box. I had not seen any pictures of the amp prior. Was going to wait for finals to be over to plug it in but he mentioned something about a blue led so had to try. JH16s have never sounded better.

Hooray for Doug :D

Did he eat it?

Yes. He told me later that it didn't taste so good but didn't want to hurt my Mom's feelings by saying so.

Balut tastes pretty good.  I don't love the texture, though: every time I've had it, I've felt like I'm eating egg shells, which is a sensation that I don't love, and which I associate with poorly peeled hard-boiled eggs.  I'm the only white person I know who has tried it.

I had a small bite just to see if I still didn't like it, since it's been so long. Confirmed. Still nasty. You're brave... just looking at it was unpleasant to me.

Congrats CJ! Looks so cool with the blue light. I'll bet it sounds great! Doug is great to work with. The only downside being that he's so hard on himself that you start feeling guilty for torturing him so much.

Met Iron_Dreamer (Peter) @ Founders Brewing Co on his way through Grand Rapids.  Short visit, a few beers and a quick lunch before he went on his way.  Good times!

Air & Space is one of my favourites.

Me:  declined whiskey.  From a girl.  Who was kinda hot.  And kinda insistent.  Really really tried not to take no for an answer.

WTH is wrong with me?
