ironbut Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 Great to hear that you "weathered" the storm Shelly! Some of that news footage was pretty scary so I'm sure that more than a few of us were thinking of you. 1
dsavitsk Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 Good to hear everyone made it through. Tornados are one part of the midwest I don't miss. Me? I bought a boatload of tubes. And some transformers. 4
shellylh Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 The video coming out of Houston is pretty much nuts. I remember being in Houston for a Hurricane once and I do not remember anything close to that level of flooding. I think the problem is that we have already had a LOT of rain over the last month or two so the ground was already completely saturated and the bayous were pretty full. (It wasn't as bad as Tropical Storm Allison which dumped 38.6" of rain in Houston over 6 days.) I am so sick of rain.

Stay dry Shelly, good luck! 1
TMoney Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 Please send any and all unwanted rain over here to California. Thanks! 4
Dreadhead Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 (edited) Caught a fish yesterday So we decided to buy a house on the water nearby: [emoji2] Edited May 27, 2015 by Dreadhead 9
Dreadhead Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 Well the offer hasn't been accepted yet but I am guessing we'll get it after some haggling. No parties until we get the basement finishing done and get more bedrooms. This summer is looking family only for a bit.
ironbut Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 Expensive fish! Good luck! I've often dreamed of living on a lake.
shellylh Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 Caught a fish yesterday So we decided to buy a house on the water nearby: [emoji2] Wow, cool!
Dusty Chalk Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 Congrats! I like the way you think -- team doesn't-fuck-around FTW!
Voltron Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 Maybe I'm confused, but I thought you bought a lake house already? Congrat regardless!
Dreadhead Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 (edited) We were one house from the water (across the road). Now we are going to be on the water. Edited May 28, 2015 by Dreadhead
Grahame Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 So by inference the next purchase is a submarine? 3
skullguise Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 Great stuff Chris, good luck with the process! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Dusty Chalk Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 Maybe I'm confused, but I thought you bought a lake house already? Congrat regardless! That is correct, but now he'll have two! If only until he moves out of the other one.
acidbasement Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 Maybe you need help moving your stuff over to the new digs?
VPI Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 Nice Chris. A Peninsula house? I am waiting to board a flight to Dallas. My third United flight in three days, and every one of them has been at least an hour delayed. 1

My third United flight in three days, and every one of them has been at least an hour delayed. Perhaps fly to a Delta hub and hope you will get reticketed from United to Delta 1
VPI Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 Yeah, I had a great streak there where I was flying home from Atlanta more often on Delta planes than on the United ones I was supposed to be on. It was nice.
shellylh Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 Myabe I should try to get a job at Georgia Tech so I can fly Delta instead of United. 2
grawk Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 but then you'd be in atlanta, which is one of the few american cities worse than houston 1
