You'll go blind.

Porn always sounds better with the TV turned on.

No, I mean if he watches TV in the nearfield.

what i should have said was that music sounds better nearfield now that there is a flat panel covering what was a clear path to my diffusion panels behind the tv.

it's all very unscientific, i just move the chair back a few feet.

My post had nothing to do with your posts, just a random thought that came to me while watching the hawks fly in my back yard and sipping some random Cabernet.

Had a second interview for a job.  Did not get the said job.  I did; however, procure myself a coconut cream pie.  The day is a success.

Coconut cream pie is good.  Not getting the job is maybe not so good (depending on the job).

I took an American friend to Lord's to watch England play New Zealand at cricket and (more or less) explained the game to him. He was polite about it and enjoyed seeing all the old chaps in their MCC getups knocking back champers for breakfast. Stereotypes confirmed!

After seeing the fashion, I'm sure Colin just made his choice of where to move to in Europe.

I'm going to have to come visit just for this. I've enjoyed

watching cricket on TV when I've stumbled upon it, but I've never figured out the rules.

I guess it varies by area. In my neighborhood UPS are the ones who destroy things, lose things, deliver shit late, and are just generally dicks. The Post Office, by contrast, is on time or earlier, and the goods are usually in one piece. And FedEx is great.

The sobering thought is that somebody lives where all three services suck.

Awesome, Chris!!

Me - woke up to a fridge that isn't cool and a freezing that is decidedly unfrozen.  Repairman inbound and I'm just hopeful it can be repaired since it's only 5yrs old or so.

Very cool Chris.

Sorry Nate, that really sucks - 5 years isn't very long.

What I didn't do today: fly to my parents' house like I was supposed to. I accidentally bought two one way tickets from Houston to Ontario, Ca, one for today and one for Tuesday (no return flight). Since I was using my parents' Southwest miles, I decided to cancel the trip and go some other time (since getting a new flight back on Tuesday would more costly at this point). Luckily I was flying SW and not United.

The good news is that I get to avoid Knott's Berry Farm on Memorial Day which would have been a mad house. I can also use the time to catch up more on work. The bad news is that I feel like I am going crazy. I keep forgetting about shit and screwing things up (ever since Tim passed away). I would never have done something so stupid in the past. I also forgot about the Zoe Keating concert I had ticket s to last weekend. :(

Repairman came, took 5 minutes (maybe less) to diagnose the problem.  Fried motherboard.  Luckily he's a local, knows the lady that runs the parts shop and is willing to install a new one for 30% of the cost of the fridge, which seems reasonable.  He just has to go pick it up, run some errands and then he'll be back.

He also told me that occasionally you can simply resolder the fried connection at the undersized relay that cooked itself and get the fridge running again for short periods of time.  So after he left I took the board to the office, solder the bad spot and reinstalled it.  Viola!  The fridge is running again.  So hopefully this will allow me to save the food inside the fridge.  The stuff in the freezer is already screwed and thankfully, doesn't amount to much.

Shelly, don't stress. Use google calendar, or whatever calendaring system works best for your platform/ecosystem of choice. That way you can see what's coming up. Typically you can set reminders to trigger in advance so you know what's coming up / when you have a decision point / time to leave. Beats having to cary a fridge door with you everywhere :)

Yay on the DIY repair Nate.

Sorry, Shelly, especially about the Zoe Keating concert -- this is her first tour since her husband passed away.  You'll be fine...eventually.  I was grieving once many years ago (over a relationship, not an actual loss of a loved one), and nearly ran someone over, and quickly came to my senses and learned my limitations (don't drive while crying, etc.) after that.

Very cool, Chris -- beautiful day for it!

Unfortunately, I already use google calendar and Zoe was on there.   I just forget to look at it sometimes, especially on the weekends and in the summer months.  Also, google calendar isn't going to help me book flights correctly.
