Dusty Chalk Posted August 19, 2013 Report Posted August 19, 2013 Spent most of the afternoon with my two sisters. Yay for reunions of a post nuclear family (I felt like coining that term, and it is appropriate -- we used to be a nuclear family, and now we are within the same metropolitan area).
shellylh Posted August 19, 2013 Report Posted August 19, 2013 For the first time, today, I'm noticing the kinds of things that I first noticed in my right thumb, before arthritis really set in, in my right index finger. I have an appointment with my doctor again early September. Anybody ever have hand surgery? I was told that my broken hand healed great, but that I might need surgery if my grip and joints were effected. I'd say that they have been. I was thinking that Al had hand surgery but now I am thinking that he maybe had wrist surgery...
Voltron Posted August 19, 2013 Report Posted August 19, 2013 Arthritis in the wrist from a 20-year old bone graft was one of the factors that required me to have a bone fusion recently. Not perfect yet and I still have phantom nerve issues but overall a success.
blessingx Posted August 20, 2013 Report Posted August 20, 2013 Glad to hear you're doing better Al. Just setup the Audioengine D2 and testing. I now have it, Squeezebox Touch (2x) and Airport Express (3x) networks. Shooting for Dinny-like invisible wave status.
Fitz Posted August 20, 2013 Report Posted August 20, 2013 had a bit of drink, talked to some old friends, played some video games, talked to more friends, read headcase.
Voltron Posted August 20, 2013 Report Posted August 20, 2013 (edited) Seeing a lot of sailing activity today because there are finals in the Louis Vuitton Cup this week. More entertaining than just random boats here and there. Edited August 20, 2013 by Voltron
Augsburger Posted August 20, 2013 Report Posted August 20, 2013 Great office view Al! Those AC72s are as much planes as racing sloops, I would love to see them race in person.
ironbut Posted August 20, 2013 Report Posted August 20, 2013 At the end of the California Audio Show, I sat down and chatted with some of the best ears in the Bay Area (mastering engineers, mixers etc) and what did we talk about, our pets and the "Cup". It really is amazing what technology has done in that sport. And what a long haul it is to put together a competivie team. The battle between man and nature continues!
ironbut Posted August 20, 2013 Report Posted August 20, 2013 BTW, have you guys watched the "live" feeds to YouTube. Pretty cools stuff! http://www.youtube.com/americascup
acidbasement Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 Just got a bump up to 24 hours per week from 21. A bit more dough, but more importantly it allows me (and family) to enroll in an awesome health and dental plan, fully paid by my employer. This fall and winter, my teeth will get fixed, finally. 2
Dusty Chalk Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 I got treated to dinner and a movie by a certain lady friend. Really depressing movie, but a very lovely evening. Admittedly, she's married, so it's not like it's a date or anything. I'm just going to have one drink, say I had a lovely time, and go home. 1

acidbasement Posted August 24, 2013 Report Posted August 24, 2013 Some friends came over yesterday to help me put house-wrap on my house. Today I'm going to try to finish most of the job solo. At the rate this house is progressing, we'll have siding on by the fall of 2014.
Augsburger Posted August 24, 2013 Report Posted August 24, 2013 Look at the bright side. You now have a full year to time your purchases of siding and materials for the periodic sales. Though cost of some materials will rise due to commodity prices of some materials rising.
acidbasement Posted August 24, 2013 Report Posted August 24, 2013 Our pipe dream is to tear down an unusable barn on our property and side the house with weathered barn-board. Free materials, but lots of work! Hey, who wants to come and help me tear down a barn next summer? Okay, back to work. I had to come inside to get a beer. Big Rock Grasshopper wheat ale is tasty on a hot, muggy day.
Grahame Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 Yesterday. BBQ round a friend's, who's wife rehabilitates raccoon's amongst other things. They can be quite cute critter's, as long as it's not your property they take a liking to. Fun fact - post rehabilitation they are returned to the location they were found at. Which sometimes annoys the property owners who reported abandoned racoon's in the first place. In addition to raccoon's, the conversation covered bouncing bombs and The Dambusters, couch to 5k. Just for fun, the start of Terminator 2 in 5.1 was played at "reference" levels to amuse the "boys" while the ladies were busy Joanne and I had prepared some calorific dessert earlier that day, that was well received. And after it all we went to see "The World's End" to round off the evening. Good Times.
Grahame Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 The Raccoon may have other ideas. What kind of flesh do you think it is feasting on?

jvlgato Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 Really cute! Do NOT let it breed with a nearby cat!
aardvark baguette Posted August 27, 2013 Report Posted August 27, 2013 Tonight I feasted. Look at it! LOOK AT IT! 1
