cetoole Posted June 29, 2013 Report Posted June 29, 2013 (edited) Mmm dinner, I am penciling myself in for dinner, well, pretty much all the time. Got up at 6est for a 9 hour flight home (including short layover in Hotlanta), then had to go into work to get some stuff done for about 2 hours. I predict a lazy Saturday. tyrion Posted June 29, 2013 Report Posted June 29, 2013 Steve, congrats on the move.! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
boomana Posted June 29, 2013 Report Posted June 29, 2013 Great news, Steve! Mike, it's interesting how your kids are going in such different and yet equally positive and exciting directions. You must be proud! Exactly!
Absorbine_Sr Posted June 29, 2013 Report Posted June 29, 2013 (edited) Went to Shipshawana Indiana to pick up the missing ottoman for our deck furniture. Then up to a little brewery named Bare Hands for a couple of beers and some pretzels with a nice horseradish cheese for dipping. Then drove another 45 minutes north to Paw Paw, Michigan to Paw Paw Brewing. It's a tiny little hole in the wall but had some great beers and an equally great burger. Left Paw Paw and headed down I-94 for home. What should I see in the rearview mirror not long after getting on the highway? How about one of these: Yep, a McLaren 12C. Wish we had better pics but not bad for Debbie's iPhone 5 at speeds between 70 and 95 MPH on a less than perfectly paved I-94. In the middle pic you can see a Corvette and a Carrera S. They were traveling as a pack and we ran with them for maybe 75 miles. They all peeled off around Portage, Indiana. I think to myself that seeing the McLaren is a one in a million thing. So what do I see 10 miles further down the road going in the opposite direction? Yep, another one, this time in gray. Couldn't believe it. Edited June 29, 2013 by Absorbine_Sr
Augsburger Posted June 29, 2013 Report Posted June 29, 2013 (edited) Picked up the family after their week of community service at a Omaha homeless shelter. Hit 116 degrees in the valley on the way home so for those of you visiting So Cal next week take note. Edited June 29, 2013 by Augsburger
luvdunhill Posted June 29, 2013 Report Posted June 29, 2013 The local place here has a couple Paw Paw on tap. Quite quaffable I would say.
ironbut Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 Wow,.. Unreal Mike! Even around silicon valley with all the new money, seeing a McLaren on the road is rare.
MexicanDragon Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 So I'm at a roller derby match and see a possibly familiar face...Doppelganger, perhaps?**BRENT**
Absorbine_Sr Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 sweet. i saw one in Atlanta, on the way to CanLanta. definitely my "what do you buy if a giant sack of money fell on you tomorrow" purchase. It was gorgeous in person. But my sack of money car would still have a prancing horse on it.
crappyjones123 Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 Back after spending 8 days in the mother freaking Grand Canyon with Julie. It was awesome. Just fucking awesome. I had to really fight back some tears earlier today.
Absorbine_Sr Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 depending on the bag, i'd have a 250 GTO. I dream of a big bag that buys an F40. Or a 1958 Testa Rossa. A really big bag.
jvlgato Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 At the Indians vs Sox game. My buddy's brother in law is Indians manager Terry Francona's agent and tells him to look for us before the game. So he actually stops to chat, gave the kids baseballs and lets us take a pic. Nice guy!
agile_one Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 Tito rules, John. Loved him when with the Red Sox, and he got a standing O on first trip to Fenway with the Indians this year. 1
n_maher Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 Nice, John. He was certainly a class act when he was here in Boston. 1
jvlgato Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 Yeah, he broke the curse for you guys, didn't he? We're hoping he does that for us! He does seem to have a presence about him. That calm confidence can do a lot for a team.
skullguise Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 CJ, glad to hear trip went so well!Me: did some touring in Montreal, including an awesome Chihuly exhibit at the Fine Arts Museum. Visited several fun areas, and went to a store that sold Stax and Senn gear, only to find it was closed (Facebook page said it would be open 12-5, maybe summer hours).Should catch some free music at the Jazz Festival tonight, for now just relaxing a bit....Nice city!
Wmcmanus Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 Nice, about Terry Francona. As good as he is as a manager, he's also an outstanding color commentator. I've always had the sense that he's a "good vibes" kind of guy, and that he's kept a healthy perspective. Far too many people in his postion get all caught up in how important they've become. 1
grawk Posted July 1, 2013 Report Posted July 1, 2013 drove the road to hana, this time using an ios tour app to tell me where to stop and what side trips to take. http://www.flickr.com/photos/grawk/sets/72157634293591390/ Was a good, tho long, drive. 1
