guzziguy Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 Congrats, Jacob. Don't worry about math. I'm sure that you could trade cooking for tutoring with either Shelly or CJ. Quote
Dreadhead Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 Congrats Jacob. Sorry Peter. x2 X3 Quote
shellylh Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 Congrats Jacob, what math class? That sucks Haj but at least it wasn't the main account. Quote
Augsburger Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Prob/stats maybe? Definitely statistics, at least that is the only math we had in our program..................aside from "how to fudge a balance sheet without getting caught 1A" Quote
shellylh Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Prob/stats maybe? That's not maths... that's stats. Got a medical massage today for my bicep tendonitis. Have to start teaching next Monday and I have been neglecting the PT I'm supposed to be doing. Quote
Absorbine_Sr Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Congrat Jacob. You will own math. Quote
MexicanDragon Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Would you have been mad if some random guy took your pic because he thought it looked funny? Note, or iPad? **BRENT** Quote
CarlSeibert Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Congrats Jacob! It looks like I will get back the thousand bucks that an ethically challenged health care provider stole out of my bank account. In addition to having the thousand bucks again, that means I won't have to do all the mean things to that company that I would have otherwise. I will do some mean things to them to anyway. Protect the public and all that. 1 Quote
guzziguy Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Prob/stats maybe? be my guess. Probably differential equations and tensors. Nothing too tough. Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Applied differential equations, course. Or they might call it "practical differential equations" now. Did anyone else call them "diff-e-q's" in college? Quote
oogabooga Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Applied differential equations, course. Or they might call it "practical differential equations" now. Did anyone else call them "diff-e-q's" in college? I just call them DEs or ODEs when I teach, but it's a chemistry course so we're not too focussed on the math. Quote
crappyjones123 Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 If you have an option consider something with sequences and series. Something that deals with convergence and divergence properties. All the MBA kids in the financial management and financial math class had a very hard time with formulas and understanding why things behaved the way they did when math kids were just taking the discrete function and taking the limit of it as the time approached infinity. Diff eq would be helpful as well. Is the MBA program more about management or finance? With the former I don't think much math is required but any place with a financial emphasis would probably require comfort with ode, some ode and some series. Quote
shellylh Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Probably differential equations and tensors. Nothing too tough. I didn't think that anyone except physics, math, and electrically engineering majors learned about tensors. Quote
jvlgato Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 No tensors in psychiatry. A lot of tension, though! 1 Quote
Augsburger Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 (edited) well, i guess whoever i was talking to had something mixed up, because the class they want me to start out on is a foundations of financial accounting class. *shrug* Good, no math in that class just a lot of lying with a straight face practice. Actually the class should provide a valuable foundation to help you when you consider opening your restaurant if that is still one of your long term goals. Edited January 5, 2013 by Augsburger Quote
crappyjones123 Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 (edited) Financial accounting is how the devil gets inside of you. I hated that class so much. Also, tensor notation can suck it. Edited January 4, 2013 by crappyjones123 Quote
