I asked the wtf with the pain if I'd not done new damage, and he took out a highlighter on this section of my MRI report:<br /><br />Severe ankle joint osteoarthritis with complete loss of cartilage along the bulk of the tibial plafond as well as essentially complete loss of cartilage along the medial talar dome. There is marked bony hypertrophy along the syndesmosis, worse on the tibila side and there is evidence of prior ORIF of the distal fibula. This is clearly chronic. Large subcortical cysts are forming on both sides of hte markedly degenerated tibiotalar joint. Chronic moderate posterior subtalar joint osteroarthristis. Osteoarthristis of the third tarsometatarsal joint, also likely chronice. Mild pre-Archilles bursitis. This could be an acute finding.<br /><br />I have to look up what most of that means, but I don't really care. Truth is I'm thrilled. It's just my regular old messed up ankle that I love. Apparently falling eight feet onto whatever that report is talking about needs to be avoided, but I'll be fine. It may take two weeks. It may take two months. I'll be back to normal, and that's all tha matters.</p></blockquote>arghhh the fracture just has screwed up the tiny balance on that joint, so the chronic damage now has decided to ache. Possibly pain will go away once you can start PT. Sorry Vicki, get well soon.

I tried an average F5 which didn't work that well, but today is a new day... Looks like it works, but still the toolbar buttons won't work

Ctrl+F5 isn't solving the toolbar issue, so probably an update-Chrome-XP thing.

Vicki ... so sorry about the ankle flare up, but that cast is bitchin'.  Hope hurting subsides long before the two week cooling off period.

Dragged the fake tree down from the attic and decorated. Now going to tea with Santa. Our local one, not the HC one. Good family time!

Got a tree then went out to Five Guys for dinner before we start our healthier food plan tomorrow.

Was helping a kid with SAT prep for the past few months. I got invited over to find out what his score was. He ended up with a perfect score (800) on math - his last attempts were 340, 470. The parents were so happy they gave me a $1000 check to help pay the tuition for med school. Then we also went to 5 guys. Now I'm back to studying for finals next week. Twas a good day again

Although the fact that someone could go from 340 to 800 with tutoring and practice just reinforces my view that the SAT is a worthless test.

Then there's TOEFL which all the schools I applied to made me take despite the fact I'd been in US for 16 years at that point and was doing just fine academically in high school.  Hopefully, they make exceptions now-a-days.

Didn't CJ just provide evidence that it's worth at least $1K?  

I thought about turning it down for a second. Then I realized that I was standing in a 10 million dollar house owned by two cardio thoracic surgeons who were just happy their son did well. I graciously accepted.

Now I can buy some of Patrick's speaker cables with coconut shavings.

Congrats to CJ and Santa!  Good stuff all

Went o a wake today, the sister of a friend with whom I used to work.  Was moved to tears, meeting her family (she was one of three very close sisters) and watching a slide show of this once immensely intelligent, beautiful woman.  I haven't been so touched by a stranger's death in a long time....she seemed so full of life and spirit, and died at a very young 52 due to cancer that had spread to the brain.

 

Gave my wife and son an extra hug tonight....
