Scofflaw!

Before you pack that hostess gift or favorite holiday treat in your carry-on, remember liquids, gels, and aerosols in containers larger than 3 ounces are not permitted through the security checkpoint. Never fear, cakes and pies are permitted.

TSA's list of holiday items that you should put in your checked bag, ship ahead, or leave at home:

  • Cranberry sauce
  • Cologne
  • Creamy dips and spreads (cheese spread, peanut butter, etc.)

That's lame Shelly, kinda sad that cheese spread is deemed too dangerous for flight.

Allison and I viewed three apartments this morning and put in an application & earnest money on the third. Two bedroom, corner apartment with an actual dining room. Has french doors that open into the master bedroom from the living room and the kitchen has a cool little open pantry that might work well for the beer fridge. Hopefully we can sign the lease sometime next week.

Ideally this will be our final apartment and we can save up for a condo/single-family home down-payment over the next 3-4 years. Would be nice to actually pay into an investment instead of plain old rent.

And I'm still in Oak Park and more than capable of stalking John whenever I wish wink.png.

Had my sharp cheddar cheese spread taken away from me going through security at the airport. WTF. Now I just has bread. sadcat3.jpg

Bugger. I lost a bottle of hot sauce flying out of the US because it was 1oz over the limit. Seriously, am I going to take over the plane by over-spicing my food?

I would like everyone to know that I survived the long trip on bread and water alone.

I could tell by the look on the other passengers' faces that they were relieved to know that there was no killer sharp spreadable cheese on board.

It's a good thing that I decided to keep my very large snow globe and hot sauce collection at home... I would have surely been locked up for such contraband.

I think the other passengers were looking at you in pity that you had no cheez spread.....

I remember once coming back from San Francisco with Lotus Seed Cakes from Chinatown in my carry-on. ALMOST got them confiscated as the filling is thick but not completely solid. I think they let me through when I offered to eat them grin.gif They were well worth it.....

Congrats on a place to live, Bryen.

Shelly, you are a certified food outlaw.

Me = made it to Jamaica. Just south of Mo Bay in a nice house on a hill. No beer here - only Red Stripe, but it's cold and plentiful.

i don't think the American people will stand up until 15 infant girls get fisted in the name of searching for explosives.

i'm flying to Madison, Wisconsin tomorrow, and i'll remember to not bring my subversive hot sauce filled, sharp cheddar based snow globes

Madison is nice. Check out Nostrano restaurant, if you have a chance.

Congrats!

Very glad to be close enough to still be stalked! Where's the new place?

Thanks Vicki, Gene, and John! We'll be on Washington, right between Harvey and Lombard. It's a vintage courtyard building.

Got a call from the property manager, everything looks good and we are signing the lease tomorrow morning.

Worked the database table at our church's annual auction, This year we brought in about $8000 less than in year's past, for a 40% drop. The economy is really making a difference.

Took Xavier to the new bike shop for the kids' day, when I find the shop was closed. Got to check out the new bike rack.

IMG_20120505_103255.jpg

So, we find out the shop is supposed to be closed, due to a couple things via the sign, but since I've started to get to know the owner a bit, he waved us in to chat. Turns out a couple of his employees (both family members) screwed him over in 16 hour period, so the sign didn't quite tell the whole tale. We wound up hanging out, talking, and eating some of the 300$ of catered food they had already bought for the day. There were a few other "new friends" with kids there, and we talked, kids hung out, and had a good time. We got the bikes down and rode around the lot a bit, working on some 1-training-wheel skills for Xavier, and then packed up to head home to pick up Zoe.

I called a couple fellow kid-overseers and we all met at 4 at the park, with 3 scooters, 2 bikes, a couple balls, a frisbee, a cooler, etc. After 3.5 hours there, hit up DQ for some special treats, took one of the friends home, and then came back to crash. It's been a great day, and got some time on the new bike for the first time.

thanks! it's a business conference, so nothing fun, but my coworker who has gone before says that they take care of everybody, food and drink wise, so it should be okay.

And by the way, it is Madison Craft Beer week this week coming up so you may be able to luck into some good beers while there. Have an enjoyable time Jacob!

Got rid of more than few trees/branches that fell in to our yard a while back. While I was at it, also sawed off few still-attached branches that were starting to get too big.

On an unrelated note, I just realized that I've most likely left my filter pouch somewhere in Buffalo when I was there couple of week ago, along with two circular polarizers. Argh.
