Damn, that is scary Jacob! Seriously glad it wasn't a stroke! Man that is weird, you did get checked out by the ER and didn't just self-diagnose and leave right?

indeed, not stroke = good. i was the one who figured out what was happening, as the symptoms started to recede after a while, and i then started feeling like i do after migraines. i never had pain in my head, and the symptoms were all very different from my normal aura. i hadn't had a migraine in a while, i wonder if i need to change my medication...

Glad you're ok. My Bell's Palsy/Pirate incident was scary enough but to go through that would have shook me pretty good. Again, glad it turned out to be something manageable and slightly less scary.

yeah, i was discharged after tests were run. i was hoping they would give me an MRI, but they decided that it wasn't a stroke in triage. they didn't know what it was, but they were pretty sure about what it wasn't.

this is actually the second time this kind of thing has happened. the very first time i had migraine aura, with aphasia and tingling and visual hallucinations, i ended up going to the ER after calling my GP and being told that i might be suffering from a brain bleed. i later found out that my regular aura is pretty standard, as far as migraine auras go, so i don't know they didn't figure it out. tonight's wasn't so standard. i felt dumb after i really figured it out, though, as just laying down would have eventually worked.

Glad you're okay. My aura before migraine is usually just some sparklers in my peripheral vision, and some tingling in my lips. A couple of times I also felt like i was walking on air a few inches above the ground.

Feeling dumb is dumb, a stroke or possible stroke is nothing to ignore, not even for a few minutes. You did the right thing. So glad it wasn't a stroke!

Very scary stuff, Jacob. Glad it turned out ok, and hope you get a handle on it so you can manage. Welcome back to the living.

I guess they discarded the stroke for the palsy and numbness not being coherent with a brain area irrigated by the same vessel. Otherwise it could have been a TIA. Take care of yourself.

Wow, scary stuff. Glad you're ok, Jacob!

Weird migraines are really tough to figure out. They sometimes end up in my office after another doc just kind of gives up and figures it's psychiatric. Then I scratch my head a bit, decide that it's not psychiatric, and send them on to a headache specialist.

Good luck with that, hope it doesn't happen again.

Take care, Jacob. A brain condition is not fun in the least, and it's best to overreact and feel dumb later than to underreact. I hope that's your last scare.
