morphsci Posted March 19, 2012 Author Report Posted March 19, 2012 Went for a nice bike ride this morning, then rode with the family over to the park to kick the soccer ball around, then cleaned all the grime off the bike. All in all a good day.
Iron_Dreamer Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 Spent most of yesterday cutting up the large oak tree that collapsed under the weight of six inches of wet snow on it's fresh spring leaves, nearly crushing my car in the process.
Pars Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 Went for a nice bike ride this morning, then rode with the family over to the park to kick the soccer ball around, then cleaned all the grime off the bike. All in all a good day. Nice Jim... sounds like you (and the family) had fun!
blessingx Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 (edited) Peter, hope nearly meant missed versus slightly crushed. Zamp came in so testing a possible mini-K1000 system. Edited March 19, 2012 by blessingx
swt61 Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 Very nice Ric. I really liked my Zamp and DA10 from a few years back.
Iron_Dreamer Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 Peter, hope nearly meant missed versus slightly crushed. Well let's just say I might as well be driving a Toyota Hilux, 'cause it's nigh indestructible. One large piece of the oak did land on the car, across the hood, but the outer branches abosrbed most of the impact. As a result, all I've got is a 3" dent in my front fender. Had the car been parked a few feet more forward, the roof would have been caved in.
blessingx Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 Glad to hear it wasn't more serious. As a child back in Ohio our neighbor bought a new, bright red, Ford somethinganother and about two weeks later when the tornado alarm sounded they weathered the storm to move it into the garage. The tornado missed our town, but the wind knocked a tree over on their garage (and car).
shellylh Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 Glad to hear it wasn't more serious. This!
Wmcmanus Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 Risk your life for that. I think the tree fee first, and then he cut it up.
aardvark baguette Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 just completed my building's obligatory sexual harassment training video / quiz. I found the slides slightly arousing.
skullguise Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 just completed my building's obligatory sexual harassment training video / quiz. I found the slides slightly arousing. I always loved these.....the over-acting is hilarious when they have videos. My current company's training videos had a "smooth talking" tech guy talking about being king of his island, calling the new Asian woman "Peking Dumpling," and threatening her with bad reviews/etc. if she didn't go out with him. That said, I haven't found myself ever aroused, just solidly amused.
jvlgato Posted March 20, 2012 Report Posted March 20, 2012 Weird, 'Peking Dumpling' was my nickname in HS! Jk, pretty funny, though. We have to do this training annually, and I agree, the films are pretty bad w/ horrible acting. I try to stay amused, otherwise, I'd get really irritated and bored.
tyrion Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 Did a 5k with Jp and he did great. He was thoughtful enough to tell me how to get in his apartment to get his audio gear should something have gone wrong during the run. You have to love a guy that thinks about others.
blessingx Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 Congrat both of you. Always good to have audio godparents.
swt61 Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 Also, JP has less wind resistance on his head, so that makes the run slightly less taxing.
agile_one Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 JP is a giver to the end. Somehow, JP + 5K seems an oxymoron, but I guess that was the old JP, not this year's edition. 'grats to you both Mike & John. I'm sure as I type this you are having a celebratory beverage.
jp11801 Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 Well there was much walking and huffing and puffing on my part. Mike was jogging around me as I did this. Lots of fun and I feel great afterwards.
swt61 Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 I've heard of this running thing. Was someone chasing you? Congrat! There is no way I could do 5K without some serious training well beforehand.
pigmode Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 I'm doing nothing today and lovin' it. The plan is to visit the latest competitor from Japan for an ongoing local ramen competition (yum).
