morphsci Posted August 29, 2011 Author Report Posted August 29, 2011 Glad you are on the mend Brent. I hope the biscuits were good where your friends took you to eat.
CarlSeibert Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 Keep at it Brent! Congrats to Vicki for gaining round on the body fat pincers. Scary things, those. And for Shelly, this from Dr Jeff Masters blog (which is required reading for South Floridians this time of year) Rainy light at the end of the tunnel, perhaps): The mercury hit 109°F (42.8°C) yesterday at Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport, tying September 4, 2000 as the hottest day in the city's history. Yesterday was the also the hottest August day on record in Houston, besting the 108°F reading of August 18, 1909. This year, Houston has set its record for all-time hottest temperature, most 100° days in a year (36, old record was 32, and 4 is normal), and most consecutive 100° days (24, old record was 14.) Weather records in Houston go back to 1889. Houston needs 20.18" of rain to get to normal levels of rainfall for the year. Today's high is predicted to be 107°F in Houston, so yesterday's record may be in danger of being broken today. By the end of the week, Houston is expected to cool down below 100°, and a weather pattern conducive for bringing summer rains will move in
shellylh Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 Yes, I am anxiously waiting for Thursday to arrive (for rain and a day with a high around 90!!!) and hope that the light at the end of the tunnel doesn't go away once again. They keep telling us to wait one more week... hopefully this time it is for real.
Pars Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 (edited) if you need some G5 parts, i can probably get them for you. my former boss has a bunch of G5s sitting in storage. Thanks Reks. The fix only lasted a couple of hours, so out with the logic board, maybe sometime this week. If I can't fix it, I may want to talk to you, but I don't really want to put much money into this thing. I'm starting to remind myself of Spicoli... http://youtu.be/A5cneCgNA9U Edited August 29, 2011 by Pars
Pars Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 And good job Brent. When I had my surgeries, they only gave me Vicodin I got pretty used to only sleeping an hour at a time for at least a couple weeks. Keep at it and know it will get better!
Iron_Dreamer Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 (edited) Mayberry ... The Porkening Indeed...what did I do today? Sleep, drink, and eat pork products ...not a bad cap to a week of self-torture in the mountains. Edited August 29, 2011 by Iron_Dreamer
Torpedo Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 Great news Brent. I wish pain backs off and you can stop taking all those pills. Or not....
The Monkey Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 Good job Brent. The problem with the pks is that they start causing their own set of problems, so it's good that youre cognizant of the need to wean off of them. Sorry you have to go through this. And yay Vicki!
swt61 Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 Keep it up Brent! Well he probably hasn't healed enough to do that yet. Good news Brent!
MexicanDragon Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 It's tough weaning off these meds... I find myself wanting to reach for the morphine, especially. Took it last night, but I'm going to give it a shot today of going without it. I have a follow up with my PCP tomorrow, but if I didn't mention, it's still over 2 weeks before I see the surgeon again, even though initially he wanted to see me after 2 weeks. The feeling continues to return, slowly, but now my feet are numb and tingly to some respect. Still worrisome. Well he probably hasn't healed enough to do that yet. No comment. **BRENT**
Pars Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 Met Jim (morphsci) for lunch today. I had a DAC to let him try, and he was up here picking something else up. Nice lunch, and good conversation. Much more enjoyable than my normal lunch, and great to see him again.
Duggeh Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 Keep your strength up Brent! Today I bought a new suit. Also, I seem to have committed to: http://www.theadventurists.com/the-adventures/mototaxi-junket
Grahame Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 (edited) Also, I seem to have committed to: http://www.theadvent...mototaxi-junket <Clarkson voice>What could possibly go wrong?</Clarkson voice> Edited August 30, 2011 by Grahame 1
Duggeh Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 (edited) Are you daft? So it would seem. Although we're hoping to swap the place for one on the Mongol Rally. Edited August 30, 2011 by Duggeh
Voltron Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 Although we're hoping to swap the place for one on the Mongol Rally. Oh well, then. That one looks perfectly sane. 1
morphsci Posted August 31, 2011 Author Report Posted August 31, 2011 Drove up to Chicago. Picked up some granite. Met Chris(Pars) and had a nice lunch and some excellent conversation. Also picked up his Pedja Rogic DAC for an inhome listen (thanks again Chris). Did a bit of shopping to restock the liquor cabinet at Binnys. Then drove back to Charleston. Now chilling.
Voltron Posted August 31, 2011 Report Posted August 31, 2011 Sounds like a good day Jim -- and Chris -- and I look forward to seeing what you concoct from that Binnys run!
Fitz Posted August 31, 2011 Report Posted August 31, 2011 DO NOT put said granite in new planer! Does it wear it out faster?
HeadphoneAddict Posted August 31, 2011 Report Posted August 31, 2011 The new (old) cat had his dental surgery today. He apparently only had 11 rotten teeth remaining when we strolled through the vet's door this morning, and now we're the proud owners of a completely toothless cat.
morphsci Posted August 31, 2011 Author Report Posted August 31, 2011 DO NOT put said granite in new planer! Now you tell me. BTW, thanks for your previous comment about the planer. I must have gone back and forth between the Ridgid and the Dewalt for 2 hours. I finally picked the Ridgid because I liked the color better glad to know there were better reasons. Sounds like a good day Jim -- and Chris -- and I look forward to seeing what you concoct from that Binnys run! It was a good but tiring day. Should have something in other threads shortly.
guzziguy Posted August 31, 2011 Report Posted August 31, 2011 Drove to Las Vegas to attend a memorial service tomorrow. I won't go into details, but I'd like to remind everybody to think very long and hard about undergoing elective surgery because sometimes the worst does happen even when the surgery is "routine".
