robm321 Posted March 19 Report Posted March 19 I don't listen to enough Schubert. Lupu playing his Impromptus is about as good as it gets. 3 1 Quote
Torpedo Posted March 22 Report Posted March 22 Emily Remler - Cookin' at the Queens Live in Las Vegas 1984 and 1988 Sound quality is just meh, probably that's why they took so long to publish this (2024), but her performance and the band's is stellar if you like straight ahead jazz based on the legacy of bebop. In this one she doesn't sound as much as Wes Montgomery as on other earlier albums. 2 Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted March 23 Report Posted March 23 I listened to Rush 50 today, going back to Pete Namlook (ambient) in a minute. Took a detour first to listen to Bobby Rush's Rush Hour -- good ol' funk, very easy to listen to. Quote

mikeymad Posted March 24 Report Posted March 24 Tchaikovsky: Serenade for String Orchestra, Op. 48, TH 48 - Barber: Adagio for Strings, Op. 11 - Elgar: Introduction and Allegro, Op. 47 by Charles Munch (1957) https://album.link/rkzptq2wkrt63 Example: Lovely LS recording of the Boston with Munch. Including the iconic Adagio. 3 Quote
mikeymad Posted March 25 Report Posted March 25 Short n' Sweet by Sabrina Carpenter (2024) https://album.link/kqfvtrmgqbmhp Example: Seeing what the kids are up to these days.. Overall it is good. It follows a lot of the Swift formula. A few cutting lines, about a very specific person, with a very singable chorus. A huge pile of writers and producers went into this one. I did appreciate this lyric from Coincidence - "Your car drove itself from LA to her thighs" I also enjoyed the appearance of Dolly Parton on the Deluxe release - (Example) 1 Quote
mikeymad Posted March 28 Report Posted March 28 Howard Shore: Anthology – The Paris Concerts by Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France (2025) https://album.link/dcv7wr74cjt4f Example: About half LOTR works, and then a collection of other movie pieces. Well performed and recorded. Not sure it will be a go to at just over 2 hours, but enjoyable. Quote

skullguise Posted March 28 Report Posted March 28 (edited) Got to see the Jam in Boston before they broke up, my first big concert (had seen a band or two in smaller venues). They recorded it for the radio and my friend Steve was interviewed briefly after the show. He made it onto a bootleg of the show. They just released a proper version I think, but he's not on that one..... Edited March 28 by skullguise 2 Quote

TMoney Posted April 1 Report Posted April 1 New Union Station. Impecably recorded, as always. A good system tester. 3 2 Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted April 3 Report Posted April 3 One of my favourite experimental electro-ambient albums, Quique got the Redux treatment, so I've managed to listen to that once all the way through already, about to start round 2. https://seefeel.bandcamp.com/album/quique-redux-2025-remaster Tagging @Knuckledragger since I couldn't be arsed to double-post this in the ambient/IDM thread. mikeymad Posted April 5 Report Posted April 5 (edited) Bach: Keyboard Concertos, BWV 1052, 1053, 1054 & 1056 by Beatrice Rana (2025) https://album.link/6kncwnnqswkjg Example: A touch slower than I am use to for these works, but all are well done, and very enjoyable to listen to. Looking at their catalog, this might be my first recording from Rana. Edited April 5 by mikeymad 2 Quote

mikeymad Posted April 7 Report Posted April 7 Multiple by Joe Henderson (1973) https://album.link/tgfvb24bkbtbt Example: Goes a little far now and then into the 70 experimental jazz, but always keeps it musical. I did really enjoy this outing. Lots of flavors to enjoy. 3 Quote
mikeymad Posted April 7 Report Posted April 7 MAYHEM by Lady Gaga (2025) {no link} Example: Overall the album was good, but a little too samey from song to song. The best thing was still the duet with Bruno Mars that they both released. Quote
mikeymad Posted April 8 Report Posted April 8 Apocalypse & Chill by Delain (2020) https://album.link/nwk07vqwtdzmv Example: In my queue for a little while. But the album title seemed appropriate.... Also I liked the album... Quote

mikeymad Posted April 9 Report Posted April 9 ".tk"? I ain't clicking on that.... My afternoon: The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway by Genesis (1974) https://album.link/9wdb4bwv4kq4w Example: It has been a while since I have listened to the full album. If you have 94 min of your day. And as I went to post this, I saw a new release is coming out. A Deluxe, or super deluxe or ultra deluxe or something like that. Coming out in June, they have released a few tracks and they sound good, but not a big improvement over this 2007 remaster. And of course you will need 230 minutes of your life to consume the new version. Good luck with that. 1 Quote
