blessingx Posted March 11, 2022 Report Posted March 11, 2022 More Blue Coast. As always prettied up, melancholy covers from a likely sparse basement just a little while ago. 2

Torpedo Posted March 13, 2022 Report Posted March 13, 2022 I will listen to that one, Dusty. I find this one amazing: It's a pity this video is such poor quality 3
blessingx Posted March 13, 2022 Report Posted March 13, 2022 Awkward listening this morning. Continuing the choices by cover hit The Ultimate Gary Glitters. I knew Rock & Roll (Part 2), but little else on it (which is pretty bad). Have ton of holes in my musical history, but wondered why he had multiple greatest hits collections so jumped on Wikipedia. Man, that's a downfall and an awful lot of people hurt. 3
swt61 Posted March 13, 2022 Report Posted March 13, 2022 Yep. Gary Glitter follows Jimmy Savile in infamy. So many children hurt, and way too long for this to come to light. 2
swt61 Posted March 13, 2022 Report Posted March 13, 2022 He's currently serving a 16 year prison sentence in England, which may well be a life sentence.
blessingx Posted March 13, 2022 Report Posted March 13, 2022 He also never seemed to get the looks worked out. .

mikeymad Posted March 15, 2022 Report Posted March 15, 2022 (edited) So, I was watching an Ed Sheeran cover by Scary Pockets, and I thought to myself, what am I missing with Ed? I just don't get it for some reason. I have heard his music all around and many covers. So, I sat down and listened to and hour plus of his songs. They were recorded well, the melodies were nice, the lyrics were mostly sentimental but well crafted. But still nothing caught me, nothing to say, 'Ah, now I get it'. And in the end maybe that is it, it is nice, but not for me. 🤷♂️ etc... Edited March 15, 2022 by mikeymad 5
Grahame Posted March 15, 2022 Report Posted March 15, 2022 ^ maybe it's just that he's a Ginger? mikeymad Posted March 15, 2022 Report Posted March 15, 2022 hmmm. But I like Bonnie Raitt, Tori Amos, Reba McEntire, Florence Welch. Oh wait - they are all female..... hmmmm Ah ... Trey Anastasio, I like him... Ha, I win! Wait ... what did I win? 1
mikeymad Posted March 15, 2022 Report Posted March 15, 2022 Good example: Take an Ed song and turn it over to Pomplamoose, and they make an incredible musical number out of it. Anyway moving on: Blues-ette (Japanese Release) Curtis Fuller Quintet 1959 https://album.link/us/i/1433694962 Example: 2

MoonShine Posted March 18, 2022 Report Posted March 18, 2022 I can't think of anything else that so successfully escapes the "contempt of familiarity", or captures so successfully both the disenchantment and enchantment of an era. 6
swt61 Posted March 18, 2022 Report Posted March 18, 2022 (edited) Especially when you consider the crossroads they were at without Syd. An astonishing accomplishment. Edited March 18, 2022 by swt61 1
