Hopstretch Posted July 14, 2020 Report Posted July 14, 2020 (edited) Phoebe Bridgers — Punisher. This is very good. Edited July 14, 2020 by Hopstretch 5
Voltron Posted July 15, 2020 Author Report Posted July 15, 2020 I should listen to this more often. I feel better about the world -- or at least forget a lot of the shit going down -- while it is playing. 5
blessingx Posted July 15, 2020 Report Posted July 15, 2020 ^ How about we start a thread of de-depression music? I think we could all use suggestions. Shirley Scott's One for Me. Sample... 2
skullguise Posted July 16, 2020 Report Posted July 16, 2020 (edited) I think you could do pretty much all of Altered Images music.....mmmmmm, 80's Claire Grogan EDIT: holy crap, it led me to this....a tiny bit of awesome.....mmmmmm, 60's Carolyn Jones...... Edited July 16, 2020 by skullguise
Voltron Posted July 16, 2020 Author Report Posted July 16, 2020 Tubular Bells did not strike the same tone, so I went back to some blues. Getting through tough times is the reason for the blues in the first place, so it only makes sense... 2
Dusty Chalk Posted July 16, 2020 Report Posted July 16, 2020 That's weirdly coincidental that you mentioned Tubular Bells, I was just listening to this earlier today: Listening to this now: Worth it just for the first couple minutes, in which David Gilmour plays an abbreviated version of Shine On You Crazy Diamond while playing acoustic. 3
HiWire Posted July 16, 2020 Report Posted July 16, 2020 (edited) How did you find the recording quality? There have been a few complaints about the intentionally brickwalled mastering on their recent albums. Edited July 16, 2020 by HiWire
TMoney Posted July 16, 2020 Report Posted July 16, 2020 New 50th Anniversary Edition has a solid live show of them at Port Chester, NY from 2/21/71. Mickey Hart was out so really interesting to hear them with only one drummer. 2
Torpedo Posted July 17, 2020 Report Posted July 17, 2020 Lianne La Havas Listening Party at NPR on Youtube
Torpedo Posted July 18, 2020 Report Posted July 18, 2020 I'm about finishing this: Barney Wilen & Alain Jean-Marie: Montreal Duets It's been released this year, but it's a double album recorded on two different concerts in Montreal in 1993. It's available in several streaming services: https://album.link/i/1519537720 and also Tidal Their I'm a Fool to Want You in the second disc is just wonderful. I can't understand how they kept this 27 years unpublished. 3
