Dusty Chalk Posted August 22, 2019 Report Posted August 22, 2019 I’d actually recommend going backwards from Selling England by the Pound ...but yeah, if prog ain’t your thing, don’t force yourself. They are pretty much prog incarnate during the PG years. Many consider ...Lamb... to be the pinnacle of prog, and it’s as impenetrable as it gets. 3
Hopstretch Posted August 23, 2019 Report Posted August 23, 2019 Speaking of prog (bit metal). Enjoying the latest King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard -- Infest The Rat's Nest. 1
Dusty Chalk Posted August 23, 2019 Report Posted August 23, 2019 From Genesis to Revelation In preparation for tomorrow night: 2 1
Dusty Chalk Posted August 23, 2019 Report Posted August 23, 2019 Trespass “Stand up and fight for you know we are right we must strike at the lies that have spread like disease through our minds...” 1
Dusty Chalk Posted August 23, 2019 Report Posted August 23, 2019 Nursery Cryme So great, from the opening barn burner, “Musical Box” to the underrated closer, “Fountain of Salmacis”. 2
HiWire Posted August 24, 2019 Report Posted August 24, 2019 (edited) III – The Grassy Knoll One of my favorite bands. This one is more relaxed-sounding than their first two albums. If you enjoyed some of Angelo Badalamenti's jazzier work in David Lynch's projects (Lost Highway, particularly), you might love The Grassy Knoll. Edited August 24, 2019 by HiWire 2
Torpedo Posted August 25, 2019 Report Posted August 25, 2019 Al Foster: Inspirations & Dedications Released earlier this year. Jazz to have fun to and to enjoy, not more nor less.
Dusty Chalk Posted August 26, 2019 Report Posted August 26, 2019 Foxtrot, ...Lamb..., Selling England..., Trick..., Wind & Wuthering, and now ...and then there were three...—my first and still the most underrated. 1
ironbut Posted August 26, 2019 Report Posted August 26, 2019 I'm always delighted to see Selling England getting some love around here! On a different note,.. My latest contribution to putting a strain on your auditory tolerance! 4
Torpedo Posted August 27, 2019 Report Posted August 27, 2019 Nice. It brought images of train windows passing quickly in front of the watcher, traffic lights and light posts passing across the window of a moving vehicle. It's raining, raindrops distort lights, it's nightfall. From the window we see people dancing next to a wood fire. I find interesting that the thoughts and images it provokes are all from a distance. Thanks for sharing. 1
ironbut Posted August 27, 2019 Report Posted August 27, 2019 Thanks for your thoughts Antonio! It's my hopes that listeners see and feel images and emotions that are unique to the individual. Yours are very cool! 2
jose Posted August 28, 2019 Report Posted August 28, 2019 Very relaxing. Last night he made me "disconnect" and today at work I put it on several occasions. 1
skullguise Posted August 28, 2019 Report Posted August 28, 2019 (edited) Sounds like......Tool.....a couple songs in, sounds good on 'phones...... EDIT: not QUITE as angst/angry as some other Tool albums, definitely a bit mellower. Still pretty enjoyable EDIT 2: several songs are Prog-long....6 of 7 songs over 10 minutes, one over 15..... Some Tangerine Dream/Philip Glass moments. Well done.

I´m listening a song entitled "Fear Inoculum". Very interesting. I will investigate a little more about this band. ? Edited August 28, 2019 by jose 1
ironbut Posted August 28, 2019 Report Posted August 28, 2019 Thanks Mikey. This one is pretty dense. Just the piano parts were a bear to edit. I'm not sure how many "hands" it would take to play that part but thats a problem for another day. Here's a snapshot of a few measures of the piano midi in Logic. 2 1
