Hopstretch Posted July 26, 2017 Report Posted July 26, 2017 Sufjan Stevens -- Carrie & Lowell Such a sad, beautiful album.
EdipisReks1 Posted July 26, 2017 Report Posted July 26, 2017 I have many Gould recordings of Goldberg, but this is my favorite performance.
jose Posted July 26, 2017 Report Posted July 26, 2017 (edited) Hendrix PEOPLE, HELL & ANGELS on vinyl ... of course! I bought it on Jimi store´s in London three years ago... ohhh guys, I love Carnaby Street. Edited July 26, 2017 by jose 2
Dusty Chalk Posted July 27, 2017 Report Posted July 27, 2017 Moraz/Bruford, Music for Piano and Drums - Live in Maryland -- I was at this concert, and I only just found out this recording existed. 1
jose Posted July 28, 2017 Report Posted July 28, 2017 Yesterday I discovered this cd in a thrift store. I admit I don´t like Whitesnake but I was curious.Pretty interesting versions of some Purple songs, for example, "Soldier of Fortune" or "Stormbringer". 1
Dusty Chalk Posted July 28, 2017 Report Posted July 28, 2017 Not all that surprising, considering Coverdale was in Purple at the time those songs were recorded. When did that come out? 2015, huh. Will have to try to listen to it once.
jose Posted July 28, 2017 Report Posted July 28, 2017 Yeah. I never really care about Coverdale's work with Whitesnake. I prefer the "rancid" themes of the Purple but OK, this work sound nice.
Dusty Chalk Posted July 29, 2017 Report Posted July 29, 2017 Well, those are the two best songs from the Coverdale era (those two and Mistreated), I think everyone prefered Machine Head era purp, though I prefer the early Rod Evans era. I have this weird list of bands I'd like to cover 4 songs of, each. Deep Purple is one of them. I would cover "Rat Bat Blue" -- before Helloween covered them, I thought I was alone in this. And yes, Soldier of Fortune is one of them, too.

Gelber is good. My favorite South American pianist was Roberto Szidon, though. Szidon is kinda like Gould, though, in that you either love his interpretations or hate them. Torpedo Posted July 29, 2017 Report Posted July 29, 2017 I'll have to check that. For some reason I can't guess, I don't particularly enjoy his playing either.

I can't quite put my finger on it, either, but I flipped sides when I heard that boxed set. I think that, maybe, he is just one of those players that you had to have heard live, in person, to have really appreciated. Edited July 29, 2017 by EdipisReks1

mypasswordis Posted July 29, 2017 Report Posted July 29, 2017 What is this blasphemy... Arrau was one of the greatest pianists who ever lived. 1
