TMoney Posted October 16, 2016 Report Posted October 16, 2016 On SHM SACD. ? I think this is my favorite album of theirs. The first three tracks are just dynamite. I really like Mark's guitar lines here. His lyrics aren't bad either. 2

Craig Sawyers Posted October 16, 2016 Report Posted October 16, 2016 Just put it on my favourites list on Tidal HiFi - will listen to later. Useless factoid number 37a: Mark Knopfler bought his first guitar from the shop I worked in on a Saturday aged 16 http://www.jgwindows.com/about-us . 2

IMO they never made a bad album. Love Mark's solo/duet stuff too. Have you heard Neck and Neck with Mark and Chet Atkins? Phenomenal, even if you don't care for Country music. Craig Sawyers Posted October 16, 2016 Report Posted October 16, 2016 I have that on CD (well, now ripped to the NAS too). Great album. 2

ironbut Posted October 18, 2016 Report Posted October 18, 2016 For something a little different; "Food For Thought" from the Library of Congress's Recorded Sound Research Center, the National Press Club Luncheon speeches. I've just begun to scratch the surface here but these are from the days when a great speech was just about the best entertainment you could ask for and these curated speeches are fantastic. So, if you're as sick of hearing about the election as I am (already sent in my ballot), give these a listen. Don't miss the Hitchcock! http://www.loc.gov/rr/record/pressclub/ 1

aardvark baguette Posted October 20, 2016 Report Posted October 20, 2016 I heard about the supergroup a while back and knew I'd buy based on the name alone. Plus the Alice in chains singer is great. I like that it's kind of weird in places. 2
bjarnetv Posted October 21, 2016 Report Posted October 21, 2016 picked some random record out of the huge lump i was given the other day - instantly new favorite record.

Dusty Chalk Posted October 22, 2016 Report Posted October 22, 2016 Dani Joss, Liquid Photography -- one of my favourite albums of electronic music evar. Dark, sparse, ambient as all, atmospheric as dark matter. I don't even know how to categorize it -- ambient experimental?

TMoney Posted October 26, 2016 Report Posted October 26, 2016 (edited) In honor of Pitchfork's 50-greatest shoegaze albums list I'm starting with this. http://pitchfork.com/features/lists-and-guides/9966-the-50-best-shoegaze-albums-of-all-time/ Edited October 26, 2016 by TMoney 4
skullguise Posted October 26, 2016 Report Posted October 26, 2016 Agnes Obel - Citizen of Glass. Very nice, definitely similar to Aventine & Philharmonic, but some variations that are quite nice. 1
