Dusty Chalk
Thanks for the reminder (wanders off to buy Notes Falling Slow -- which turned out to be surprisingly cheap [US$16 for a box set worth of music] for lossless download version from their website...hour download though). Voltron
Nels Cline -- Lovers Lots of people will like this record, but I think @blessingx should definitely give it a listen. I'm going to see it live in the Spring at SFJazz, so other locals should check it out to see if they want to join in...

Dusty Chalk
Shape of Despair, Monotony Fields -- a nice return to form after Illusions's Play (2004 album that followed the epic Shades of... and Angels of Distress) and Shape of Despair (2005 album). There's also Written in My Scars EP which I will have to check out, but it's not on their bandcamp. And apparently they have a first album/demo, Alone in the Mist. Doom Metal -- the slowest, most funereal doom metal. Spine-tinglingly great. EDIT: Oh, okay, it (Alone in the Mist) is by a previous incarnation, "Raven":

Craig Sawyers
^I have the original vinyl. The cover still shocks - I cannot imagine anyone producing an album cover like that now. Saw them live in '73.
