aardvark baguette Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 Lenny Breau - Guitar Sounds of Lenny Breau Goddamn.
NightWoundsTime Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues. Leaked.
guzziguy Posted April 29, 2011 Report Posted April 29, 2011 Bill Frisell - Unspeakable It's really good, but at this point I prefer Gone, Like a Train and Nashville to this. That may change with multiple listenings.
Dusty Chalk Posted April 29, 2011 Report Posted April 29, 2011 Samples from the Linn website from Kuniko plays Reich, including an arrangement for percussions of "Electric Counterpoint", which I am well familiar with (the Pat Metheny version). It's wonderful. I'm going to have to get this.
Dusty Chalk Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 Scarcity of Miracles, the track they have on blip.tv from here. Wow. That's pretty, almost AOR, the only thing that saves it from crossing over into yacht rock territory is ...alright, I don't know. Can't quite put my finger on it, but it's the bed of "thinking man's music" -- mostly Tony Levin and Jakszyk, I think -- Fripp doesn't do much more than some ornamentation (although behind the scenes I'm pretty sure he's a lot more influential). Also puts me in mind of Sunday All Over The World, for some reason, without the scat-/jazz-based vocals. But, you know, it's Fripp, Gavin, Levin, et al, plus it'll be available on DVD-A, so I'll be getting it.
faust3d Posted April 30, 2011 Report Posted April 30, 2011 I found a bunch of really cheap new Innova CDs over at my favorite used CD store in the modern classical section. Surprisingly most of these are very good albums, not a single dud so far. Timothy McAllister - Glint (2010)
jp11801 Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 Giving the Flaming Lips Box Set Heady Nuggs a spin, overall sound is pretty good except a very defective Clouds Taste Metallic side 1
