Dusty Chalk Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 They hit me the same way, and I have no idea what anything has to do with Altos. Don't know if it's her voice, his musicianship and arrangement skills, or my knowledge behind the music story, but they have that kind of happy-go-lucky-hiding-something that The Cardigans also have. Torpedo Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 This again Joseph Joachim Raff: Violin Concertos 1 & 2 - Michaela Paetsch-Neftel, Bamberger Symphoniker, Hans Stadlmair. It's a very nice album, this composer is way too underrated. Quote
postjack Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 Weezer - MFSL Vinyl its insane how perfect a pop record this is, and even crazier how they never even came close to matching it for the rest of their career. Yes I'm a huge Pinkerton fan, but nothing approaches this one. Quote
postjack Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 Jason Isbell - Southeastern Love this album cover for some reason. Quote
postjack Posted July 11, 2013 Report Posted July 11, 2013 DId this just come out, or something? Do they have Pinkerton, as well? Duke and Louis - The Great Reinion MFSL Came out a little while ago, last year I think? Pinkerton just came out. Sounds great, but then again IIRC the original mastering didn't sound too bad either. The vocals and guitar work are particularly clear on the MFSL, today was my first listen and I really enjoyed it. Dusty Chalk Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 Thanks! (wanders off to look up moar Karin Schaupp) Me, currently: Breathe Carolina -- wtf is this shit? Who dafog is this supposed to appeal to -- remember that track by Attack Attack that had the disco breakdown in the middle of some screamo? This is like the opposite -- it's pop vocal techno that occasionally goes screamo. WAT. I'm just jealous because I didn't think of it first. Quote
thrice Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 K's Choice - 1993>2003 Ten Years of I've been rewatching Buffy the Vampire Slayer and I got this from one of the artists that plays in the local haunt. That's actually a nice source of potential music choices... Who played at the Bronze! 1 Quote

Dusty Chalk Posted July 13, 2013 Report Posted July 13, 2013 Bruce Soord with Jonas Renke, Wisdom of Crowds Fuck this is good. So up my alley -- it's like since it isn't Anathema nor Katatonia, they are free to express their less metal side, and ... just ... words ... not ... adequate ... Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted July 13, 2013 Report Posted July 13, 2013 The Apex Theory -- I love this album so much. Didn't realize they released a single 15 minute track a couple years later. It's superb, and kind of spacey. Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted July 14, 2013 Report Posted July 14, 2013 Canvas Solaris, Irradiance -- \mm/ Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted July 15, 2013 Report Posted July 15, 2013 Pacific Rim soundtrack -- man, I can't even look at the track titles, there look like there be spoilers. Here's to hoping I forget by the time I see the movie. Also hoping that they're out of order. Quote
cutestory Posted July 15, 2013 Report Posted July 15, 2013 Pacific Rim soundtrack Is good, yes? Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted July 15, 2013 Report Posted July 15, 2013 Is good, yes. Maybe not Dark Knight good, but quite good, yes. Upper echelon for soundtrack work. Need to see movie, though. Quote

Dusty Chalk Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 Aw man, just realized I'm not going to have an excuse to visit SF now that my sister is moving back here. Bummed. Bruce Soord with Jonas Renke, Wisdom of Crowds -- damn, just damn. Album of the year for me. Not metal, repeat, not metal. Don't. Fucking. Care. Not one iota. Quote
