Jon Batiste - Beethoven Blues

512x512bb.jpg

You can find it at most streaming services and Qobuz (I still don't get why Odesli won't link Qobuz pages).

TBH I listened to it yesterday and mostly to please a friend who had listened to it and thought it is awesome. I always have certain prevention against jazz or pop albums trying to make something worthy from classical music, especially the one that I find the work of a genius. As much as I tend to dislike pop/jazz/rock played in a classical arrangement, like those abominations of The Beatles for string quartet.

This album is something else, yet not fully to my liking. I enjoyed very much a couple of tunes, others were just fine and there were like three that could have been not recorded.

If someone listens to it, I'd love reading your thoughts.

Here Come The Warm Jets

Here Come The Warm Jets
by Brian Eno (1974)

Example:

His first solo - and it is all over the place - in the best way. He tried most things, and most of them worked.  And a good Album Title.

A clear contrast to:

Country Life

Country Life
by Roxy Music (1974)

Example:

YouTube wont let me post the original song for some age restriction reason or something. There is no bad lyrics in here..  yeesh

Oh well. Overall a fun album.

Nubya Garcia - Odyssey

I really liked this album. Inspiring stuff. Very intricate and inovative.

It will take some listening effort on your part to get where it's coming from.

Pretzel Logic

Pretzel Logic
by Steely Dan (1974)

https://album.link/i/1696215205

Example:

More diverse than other albums, which I liked. But it is a good not great album for me. Of course a handful of killer tunes, but then a few that are a miss for me. It will be in rotation. Well until I listen to Aja again and this one may get lost in the queue.

Mendelssohn - Murray Perahia, Academy Of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Neville Marriner – Piano Concertos Nos 1 & 2

Picked up this LP used. I've always liked Mendelssohn.

Streetlights

Streetlights
by Bonnie Raitt (1974)

Example:

Strong Album. I only knew her in the 80's once I found Nick Of Time and the rest. I should have, and still should, explore her 70s work. One of the quintessential voices in my life.

This.

(boring stereo version)

Murry is one of my favs for Mozart. This whole combo works really well for me for the 2nd Concerto. I am not sure I am a real fan of the first just as a work, nothing against this version.

Thanks rob.
