Scriabin: Le Poème de l'extase, Piano Concerto, Prometheus

Scriabin: Le Poème de l'extase, Piano Concerto, Prometheus
by Vladimir Ashkenazy / Maazel (1971)

Example:

I really pulled this for the Ashkenazy Concerto work. But was captivated by the Maazel, Le Poème de l'extase piece. I thought that this was a Decca release, and then discovered it was. But also London. There is a whole history there that I will let you research.

Yes - 90125

A perennial favorite... either my hearing is getting worse, better, or I've turned the volume up (long overdue haircut?)... it's more compelling than ever. The 2004 expanded and remastered CD.

I underestimated the remaster's volume - I do think they turned it up, but there is no trace of clipping or distortion - Hearts got really loud in the end, as it should!

And Brian Bromberg covers Earth, Wind and Fire's Shining Star on Wood II.

Dua Luipa: Tiny Desk Concert.

Brat.

Or not quite, apparently.

Interestingly, adjacent in the algo feed was this.

I wasn't sure if they were a real J-Pop band, or just an AI retro-futuristic generated version like this

How would I tell? Can you? Are the extensive production credits a clue, or just a by product?

(Who's Afraid Of) The Art Of Noise?

(Who's Afraid Of) The Art Of Noise?
by Art Of Noise (1984)

https://album.link/i/1364593455

Example:

So my friend sent me an DM this morning asking what was my favorite Art of Noise song was, with hers being the Example. So I had to think about it, and I just had to ask myself, (Who's Afraid Of) The Art Of Noise?, and listen to the album again. While Beat Box (Diversion 1) is very very good, there are two things I like a little bit more from this album,  the classic - Close (To The Edit), and the just lovely - Moments in Love.

But when I thought of a fav, it was not from this album, it was on the In Visible Silence (1986) album. Which I have posted here several times before. When I thought of Art of Noise, this tune was first in line.

A lot of my musical influences are packed into this 4:30 minute song from my teen years.

watched to this.

I was intrigued, little bit of Amy Lee sound with some Tori Amos for me.  With that I listened to the more recent album

She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She

It was not what I was expecting - more on the Trip-hop side. Not bad, just not what I was expecting coming off the hunting Tiny Desk show. Apparently, they have very diverse albums, new artist to myself. So I think I will have to check out their early works.

The Cure did a live stream from London tonight of their new album, which is ... fine, honestly. But after playing that, they then spent another 2+ hours blistering through their back catalog and it was something else! Robert Smith still in great voice, the band tight, A++ live sound mixing. This 80s kid highly recommends! The retrospective starts about an hour in after the first intermission.

Chiaroscuro

Chiaroscuro
by Darol Anger (1985)

https://album.link/i/1201476217

Example:

I came across a clip of Darol playing with Britney Haas the other day. And I was like I know Darol, I use to listen to him back in the 80's. I still have several Windom Hill LPs. So this is the stuff I listened to in the 80's along with Animotion (look that one up kids).
