mikeymad Posted January 30 Report Posted January 30 Okay one more live - since she is not traveling to the US anytime soon. Pretty much the same set as the launch performance above. But without orchestra players, so a lot more free and flowing. Beautiful stuff. 3

mikeymad Posted February 5 Report Posted February 5 I have done a lot of listening in the last week, but here is what I am listening to - now Band On The Run by Paul McCartney (1973 (2024)) https://album.link/i/1717135189 Example: Underdubbed? - Yep. This is pretty much the original version and mix of the album - without the overdubbing and orchestration and extras added. -- Much more of a rock album. I really have to try to listen to it with new ears. Forget what I know and hear what is there, not what isn't. The example is such a Jam.. I know this album so well, I am not sure I would have liked this album better than the original on release (first listen of both), but I know I sure like it now. 6

That was always my other favourite track on the album. I was so smitten with that (as a B-side), I learned that riff on the piano when I was still collecting singles and not albums. Me: I can listen to music again! Currently: Young Gods, TV Sky not sure why this is the first album I chose, but it's as great as I remember On deck: Kyros, Mannequin 3
mikeymad Posted February 6 Report Posted February 6 Yes Wembley London 1978 Tourmato BBC: Wembley Arena in London on 10/28/1978. Recorded and broadcast by BBC Radio for their BBC Friday Rock Show series. Jon Anderson – lead vocals Steve Howe – guitar, backing vocals Rick Wakeman – keyboards Chris Squire – bass, backing vocals Alan White – drums https://archive.org/details/yes-wembley-1978-tourmato-london-bbc Oh hey - they have a little Archive player - not sure it will work: I came across this performance on youtube, where someone took this recording and made a concert video from from 16mm film cuts from the tour. Anyway, it sounded fantastic and a great version of the band and songs. I did a little more research and it was a BBC Radio broadcast. That led me to The Archive and happiness. They were in their full progyness, huge solos, huge mixing of songs, fun stuff for a Yesfan. 3
mikeymad Posted February 7 Report Posted February 7 Impressive and beautiful. The poor little Yamaha upright tried its best to keep up. 1

dsavitsk Posted February 23 Report Posted February 23 (edited) New Philip Glass. Nothing earth shattering, but a nice new recording. also, a note that that cover is by Luis Álvarez Roure and is a stunning bit of portraiture. Edited February 23 by dsavitsk 4

When CDs first came out there were a few CDs packs (two LPs in one CD purchase!). This was part of a Trane double and along with a Marvin Gaye double, the most memorable. 3
mikeymad Posted February 28 Report Posted February 28 ^^ I can understand that - it is short. I was sad when it finished up so fast. So Brothers And Sisters by The Allman Brothers Band (1973) https://album.link/i/1455534876 Example: I started out this album a little disappointed with the opening track. Not bad, just not much there. Then it rolled into Ramblin' Man which I always liked, but it is a good tune, not a great one for me. From there on the album just keeps building on itself, by the time that I got to the 7.5 minute version of Jessica (above), I was all in. With the lovely coda of Pony Boy at the end. Happy to have this locked into my memory as a good album. 1
