robm321 Posted February 2, 2023 Report Posted February 2, 2023 I'm taken aback a bit with this one. Kind of a paradigm shift for me. One of the most badass songs ever? Or is it the 9% IPAs I've been drinking? No i think this is really fucking good 3 2 1

Or is it the 9% IPAs I've been drinking? No i think this is really fucking good Unrelated -- me: two new discoveries. First is big band-ish small ensemble, Mats-Up. Also, Pinhas & Sons -- Israeli nine-piece: Both of these are absolutely ace. 2
robm321 Posted February 3, 2023 Report Posted February 3, 2023 First time hearing these two symphonies. 1
robm321 Posted February 3, 2023 Report Posted February 3, 2023 The Arcs - Electrophonic Chronic Soulful, laid back, funky, spacey, a bit melancholy... ex. 1 1
mikeymad Posted February 5, 2023 Report Posted February 5, 2023 A bit of a progy Saturday: Earlier - Journey To The Centre Of The Earth Rick Wakeman 1974 https://album.link/i/1443406338 It's only 4 tracks, there is no real way to share a track to do it justice. Now more modern: Day And Age (Deluxe Edition) Frost* 2021 https://album.link/us/i/1556722306 Example: Frost* has been in my queue for too long. I am glad I finally got to them. I have an older album of theirs queued up as well. I should get to it sooner than later. Solid band with Spock's Beard vibes. 4 1
Dusty Chalk Posted February 5, 2023 Report Posted February 5, 2023 Yeah! Frost* are great! Please also feel free to check out Lonely Robot. Me: still obsessed with Mats-Up and Pinhas & Sons. 1
mikeymad Posted February 5, 2023 Report Posted February 5, 2023 Joseph Haydn: Piano Sonatas Nos. 20, 34, 51 & 52 Paul Lewis 2018 https://album.link/i/1580960950 Example: Just good all the way around. Haydn good, Paul good, Harmonia good. Fire bad. 1
Dusty Chalk Posted February 5, 2023 Report Posted February 5, 2023 Two things: Beato recently posted this video: I've been programming (in Go(lang) and Python), as well as taking a lot of video lessons in programming, so I need music without vocals, so... ∴ I've been listening to a lot of Yuja Wang. 2
mikeymad Posted February 5, 2023 Report Posted February 5, 2023 (edited) She is fast - but happens to be very good as well. Ed: Also, isn't that three things? Edited February 5, 2023 by mikeymad 1 2

"3." was just incorrectly placed, as I CBA to find the "therefore" symbol. I fixed it for you. (not entirely -- the indenting is still fucked up. ) EDIT: okay, now I really fixed it 23 hours ago, mikeymad said: She is fast - but happens to be very good as well. She's amazing. I've seen her live. Pretty sure she has tied Alice Sara Ott and outpaced Hélène Grimaud as my favourite living pianist. 1
Dusty Chalk Posted February 6, 2023 Report Posted February 6, 2023 Unrelated: Also listening to a lot of Piazzolla and Mats-Up is largely instrumental, so I've been listening to those as well.
HiWire Posted February 6, 2023 Report Posted February 6, 2023 (edited) Chris Rea – Era 1 (1978-1984) Edited February 6, 2023 by HiWire 3
Dusty Chalk Posted February 6, 2023 Report Posted February 6, 2023 I love Chris Rea. I usually hate blues (other than Robert Cray, Albert Collins, and other 80's blues guitarists), but his blues box set has totally ruined me -- it's entirely listenable, but now I can't listen to anything else any more. 1
mikeymad Posted February 7, 2023 Report Posted February 7, 2023 Big Fun (2022 Remaster) Miles Davis 1974 https://album.link/i/205881623 Example: A Pretty epic listen - I had to take it in two chunks. The original was a 4 song double album. The reissue turns it into an 8 track 2 hour and 22 minute journey. High caliber stuff. 3
mikeymad Posted February 9, 2023 Report Posted February 9, 2023 Jacob's Ladder Brad Mehldau 2022 https://album.link/i/1606023157 Example: Been in my queue for too long (in this case almost a year since it's release). A pretty cool batch of covers by Brad and team. I liked this one from Gentle Giant, along with a pile of Ruch tunes as well. Always need more Brad. 1

I missed it entirely, AND he's releasing tomorrow.
Hopstretch Posted February 10, 2023 Report Posted February 10, 2023 (edited) Remember listening to them for the first time at 13 when the world was new and wonderful. Unfortunately getting a bit more aligned on the back end nowadays at 53 but still speaks to me. Edited February 10, 2023 by Hopstretch 4
swt61 Posted February 10, 2023 Report Posted February 10, 2023 Still speaks to me and I'll be 62 next week. 2

I guess it is tomorrow Your Mother Should Know: Brad Mehldau Plays The Beatles Brad Mehldau 2023 https://album.link/i/1654701817 Example - I chose the one non-beatles song {because I'm that guy}: It is not a new concept - but Brad is just that good. All live tracks. 3
