Today the only thing I recognize is the haircut. If you told me that was a picture of an old Russian peasant that toiled all hers days in the sun, I wouldn't know any different.
blessingx Posted October 1, 2022 Report Posted October 1, 2022 (edited) I’m interested in the new doc and don’t pretend to be objective here. SNL has had over 600 musical guests during its run and by my estimation two have used the platform well. Costello is in the number two slot. And I’m talking about her less commonly discussed appearance (strangely missing from web). Sure it was only a couple years, but Sinéad practically defined the rock&roll-punk mindset there for a bit and who else would tell Frank Sinatra to fuck off? It hardly seems an exaggeration to say, for a while it was like Sinéad versus the world and some of us weren’t sure who was going to win. It’s hard to ignore everything after, but if you squint and can, there are not many who flashed so brightly, staying pretty true and avoiding the rock star trappings… for a short while. Last indicator I’m probably taking this all too seriously, when Melissa got pregnant and I thought about music to play when they arrived Pet Sounds immediately came to mind. When we found out it was going to be a girl I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got was first album to be mentally added. EDIT: In other news, the doc, Nothing Compares, can't use Nothing Compares 2 U, because Prince's estate thinks his version needs protecting. That’s funny. Edited October 1, 2022 by blessingx 1

Dusty Chalk Posted October 2, 2022 Report Posted October 2, 2022 New Haelos track (nice return to form): https://tidal.com/browse/track/247388928 New Snarky Puppy! https://tidal.com/browse/album/228999248 New Keith Jarrett! https://tidal.com/browse/album/250019473 And this track still slays me -- both guitar solos and the build on both the song and her vocals...just... I can't even... https://tidal.com/browse/track/69200944 2 1
mikeymad Posted October 2, 2022 Report Posted October 2, 2022 ^^ from the image - that must be the low resolution edition? 😁 (sorry) Me: Silver Age (Extended Edition) Daniil Trifonov 2020 https://album.link/i/1551363684 Example: 2.5 hours is a little bit much for a one time sitting of this extended release. But I really enjoyed these works. The Scriabin I thought was particularly well done. 2 1
mikeymad Posted October 4, 2022 Report Posted October 4, 2022 Progy prog day The Human Equation Ayreon 2004 https://album.link/i/1600474851 Example: This really is the album that got me into modern prog - that being beyond the Yes, Genesis, Floyd, ELP, Crimson, etc... that I was listening to. It showed me a modern concept album (this about a person in a coma from a car crash), with a fusion of modern styles and classic elements. Thank you Arjen Anthony Lucassen and all your projects. 4 2
Dusty Chalk Posted October 5, 2022 Report Posted October 5, 2022 Here here! I agree. An absolute masterpiece. Might I also recommend, Banco del Mutuo Soccorso | Orlando: Le Forme dell'Amore? 1
