Voltron Posted August 24, 2022 Author Report Posted August 24, 2022 Checking out Eli right now. Thanks Rob! 1
skullguise Posted August 25, 2022 Report Posted August 25, 2022 Goodness me, a nice little surprise: Clare Grogan (Altered Images) came out with a new album! Saw in her interview, "....37 years since the last one...I know I'm rushing things a bit..." Typical pop, more like their later years before they originally broke up.... Her voice still has that cuteness to it, and it's fun & different to hear because she has quite the thick Scottish accent when she normally speaks.... 4
Grahame Posted August 25, 2022 Report Posted August 25, 2022 80's flashback time then And maybe an excuse to rewatch a Gregory's Girl 4
mikeymad Posted August 25, 2022 Report Posted August 25, 2022 Speaking of pop, I have been listening to a new artist to me, OSTON. She has been putting out a series of short albums over the last few years. Gives me a good Dodie feel and some Lorde, etc. Just Finished both of these. Am I Talking Too Much? OSTON 2021 https://album.link/i/1577449646 I'm Definitely Talking Too Much OSTON 2021 https://album.link/i/1590055069 Catchy well produced but not over produced (there are only a few writers). 1
guzziguy Posted August 26, 2022 Report Posted August 26, 2022 Is her biggest hit "Ore than a feeling"? 2

mikeymad Posted August 27, 2022 Report Posted August 27, 2022 Edwin everyday. The Year After European Jazz Trio 2019 https://album.link/i/1516037458 Example: Just well recorded Saturday afternoon Jazz. Fit the bill. 3

mikeymad Posted August 29, 2022 Report Posted August 29, 2022 Motion Sick Pip Millett 2021 https://album.link/i/1570669902 Example: An R&B EP from a new UK singer. Overall I liked it, the groves are good and the voice is there. I will keep an eye on them. 1
skullguise Posted August 31, 2022 Report Posted August 31, 2022 (edited) Diamanda Galas - Broken Gargoyles. She is at her avant-garde horror screech-opera best, hasn't seemingly lost anything from years past. EDIT: this is so fucking freaky! 😄 Let's just call it an acquired taste..... mikeymad Posted August 31, 2022 Report Posted August 31, 2022 Been a while since I listened to this... so. Be Here Now (Deluxe Remastered Edition) Oasis 1997 https://album.link/i/1523139329 Example: 25 years - dang. I don't know how much I will go back to this, but I liked listening to it again. It has the white noise with a beat and loud singing vibe that I can get into. Kind of a Beatles Helter Skelter vibe, but for a whole album. And then for something completely different. Hoa (Original Soundtrack) Johannes Johansson 2022 https://album.link/i/1626128595 Example: Just lovely. Everything that you would expect from an piano based Anime Soundtrack. But it just happens to be for a game not a movie. 6
skullguise Posted September 1, 2022 Report Posted September 1, 2022 Very nice! I was searching for a good word to describe and "refreshing" kept coming to mind.....
jose Posted September 1, 2022 Report Posted September 1, 2022 ^ and she has a beautiful voice, I liked it a lot. 2
n_maher Posted September 2, 2022 Report Posted September 2, 2022 Arcade Fire - WE I know I'm late to the party here, but there are parts of this that just hit the nail on the head. 2
Hopstretch Posted September 2, 2022 Report Posted September 2, 2022 (edited) Unfairly maligned album (for being too mainstream). Still really enjoy it. This concert was filmed on a potato but has good energy nonetheless. And then it looks like he wandered into much better resolution for the next song in the set? Torpedo Posted September 2, 2022 Report Posted September 2, 2022 18 hours ago, jose said: Her voice reminded me a lot of Olivia Newton John's. Very nice, thanks for sharing.
TMoney Posted September 2, 2022 Report Posted September 2, 2022 Yungblud - Self Titled Old school punks like Doug might be rolling over in their graves but I am a man of simpler tastes and I can't get enough of the pop-punk revival. This is a fun one. 3
