en480c4 Posted July 21, 2022 Report Posted July 21, 2022 Forcing myself to take a break from Preacher's Daughter... Which I may or may not have listened to an unhealthy amount over the last month. MØL - Jord 1

jose Posted July 21, 2022 Report Posted July 21, 2022 Andy Summers. Retrospective. I remember seeing him live about 15 years ago (Antonio was beginning to pervert me at that time 😁). He didn't leave me very impressed... and he didn't play a single song by The Police. 3

mikeymad Posted July 23, 2022 Report Posted July 23, 2022 ^^ I can enjoy some non-Dio Rainbow. For You Alone Håkon Kornstad 2021 https://album.link/i/1574910730 Example: This was had to classify for me. Traditional songs (jazz) with a classical singer. Regardless, I really enjoyed it.
Dusty Chalk Posted July 23, 2022 Report Posted July 23, 2022 New Oceans of Slumber album today is freakin' LIT. I really love it. Fruit Town by Standards is pure, unadulterated old school mathrock. I really love it. Really joyful. That's all I got from today.

I really want to like this, but I can't listen to anything Steve Albini records. edit: I'll add that I like what SA has to say, I just don't like how he records. Edited July 23, 2022 by dsavitsk

mikeymad Posted July 24, 2022 Report Posted July 24, 2022 Desmond Blue Paul Desmond (w/strings) 1962 https://album.link/i/525880811 Example (one of the Autumn Leaves): Pretty Album 3
mikeymad Posted July 25, 2022 Report Posted July 25, 2022 Love Is Here To Stay Tony Bennett, Diana Krall 2018 https://album.link/i/1417536790 Example: I am usually not the biggest fan of these types of albums (and this is not really an exception), roll out an old crony and croak through some standards. While I probably will not listen to the album again, I might play a few tracks (like above) now and then. One thing that these types of sessions bring out, is some of the best recording engineering. This album sounds Amazing (not with the YT compression), Diana's playing is great, super detail for the instruments and voices. Some future system sound checks tracks. 1

FYI, that video was literally my introduction to Hiromi. I saw someone was playing with Chick Corea, so I watched it for Chick Corea, and ... she really holds her own! They communicate with their faces, she has her own style, is confident enough to come across as a duet partner/peer/equal, and has such joy that it's just effusive. Instant fan. 2
mikeymad Posted July 27, 2022 Report Posted July 27, 2022 Caramba! Lee Morgan 1968 https://album.link/i/724256045 Example: Another good Hot day album.
