I just finished listening to a couple of songbirds new to me. I Cry When I Laugh Jess Glynne 2015 https://album.link/i/1027561834 Example: Mostly dance oriented songs, that I liked, but I was I was drawn to her Adel style, and she can belt. and Innocent Eyes (Ten Year Anniversary Acoustic Edition) Delta Goodrem 2003 https://album.link/i/740210360 Example: Enjoyed her Tori Amos/Kate Bush style. I guess I like these two enough, but is it just because they sound like other singers that I love? I guess I will see if I listen to more of their stuff. If you like Tori Amos/Kate Bush then you will more than likely like this 2
mikeymad Posted June 12, 2022 Report Posted June 12, 2022 The Voice Of Love Julee Cruise 1992 https://album.link/i/358066013 Example: Haunting goodness - RIP 3
blessingx Posted June 12, 2022 Report Posted June 12, 2022 (edited) Seems appropriate quiet Sunday morning don't-take-things-too-seriously tunes... Jamie Drake New Girl Ex. Edited June 12, 2022 by blessingx 1
mikeymad Posted June 13, 2022 Report Posted June 13, 2022 Beethoven: Piano Sonatas No. 3 in C Major, Op. 2 & No. 16 in G Major, Op. 31 Olga Kopylova 2021 https://album.link/i/1576013975 Example: Nice versions
en480c4 Posted June 13, 2022 Report Posted June 13, 2022 Ethel Cain - Preacher's Daughter I recognize that this is extremely on-brand for me, but holy hell this is good. 4 1 2

Hopstretch Posted June 15, 2022 Report Posted June 15, 2022 Oh boy. Album is For All Our Days That Tear The Heart. Out next week. 3
Aspirant Audiophile Posted June 16, 2022 Report Posted June 16, 2022 At risk of stating the obvious (again), I'll pose the question: does anyone else notice their music tastes change as their audio gear improves? I used to think Sonic Youth was my favorite band. But my audio setup just reveals noise, not nuance. Maybe there's another setup out there that provides separation for all those guitars... I'm listening to Loretta Lynn all day today, starting with her Hymns, Don't Come Home a Drinkin', and the massive Honky Tonk Girl collection. My wife is Dutch and thought it was Dolly Parton...I quickly corrected her that she's listening to maybe the best country/folk singer America has produced.
mikeymad Posted June 16, 2022 Report Posted June 16, 2022 fragments Rachika Nayar 2021 https://album.link/i/1573269210 Example: I have been listening to this (what I would call an EP - only 20 min) many times over the last two weeks. The looping and overall aesthetic is really appealing to me. I like it better than a lot of things from her breakout album "Our Hands Against the Dusk". 1
Dusty Chalk Posted June 16, 2022 Report Posted June 16, 2022 Dir en Grey, Phalaris Extreme metal, proggy
mikeymad Posted June 16, 2022 Report Posted June 16, 2022 Very not proggy Let Go (20th Anniversary Edition) Avril Lavigne 2002 https://album.link/i/1626353802 Example: She's 20 years older - not me... She could belt and there are hooks all over this album. I knew the first 5 songs off the top of my head, and I don't even listen to Avril that I can think of. Also, Top Gun: Maverick (Music From The Motion Picture) Hans Zimmer https://album.link/t/230595668 Working over old material here - but still good music. Looks like TIDAL does not have rights to Kenny Loggins yet, so that that is a Fail! 3
mikeymad Posted June 17, 2022 Report Posted June 17, 2022 Madman Across The Water (Deluxe Edition) Elton John 1971 https://album.link/i/1618478418 Example (demo): I have enjoyed the demos and some other live tracks. I probably won't listen to them much, but fun that they are there. The standard album tracks are just so good. 4
n_maher Posted June 18, 2022 Report Posted June 18, 2022 Needed a little mental purging to finish off the night. This fit. 4 1

swt61 Posted June 18, 2022 Report Posted June 18, 2022 How strange. It doesn't work for me. I would even call it a mis fit. 😉 1
mikeymad Posted June 19, 2022 Report Posted June 19, 2022 Prokofiev: Piano Concertos Nos. 4 & 5 Vladimir Ashkenazy, London Symphony Orchestra, André Previn 1997 (Wrong! It is a 1976 reissue of the 1975 recordings of all 5 Concertos, stoopid TIDAL, don't you read Discogs?) https://album.link/i/1452339744 Example (from the 1975 albums): Other than wishing there was an easy feedback loop for reporting bad info to TIDAL it is a good recording. 2 1
